And it was a very nice win for him!

good for Gunnevera! although before the race in the post parade.... I thought it looked like he wanted to take a nap instead of run - he seemed almost too calm and relaxed - but then he went out and ran his race - glad to see him win!

Sounds like this was a prep for the Travers for him. The Midsummer Derby is shaping up to be one helluva race. :D

Haven't found an article about it, but several people who were at Saratoga this morning are saying on Twitter that Classic Empire refused to work this morning.

If that is true I would say there is something physically wrong with him

I know that Tiznow used to refuse to work...occasionally...but would eventually get it done. Classic Empire's issues seem to be happening more than just 'occasionally.' :?

Yes, but Tiznow really didn't have a problem with that until midway through his four-year-old season. It seems like Classic Empire has never had his head on straight.

I think we already kinda know that he's not right physically- he has known foot and back issues, and I'd be pretty cranky too at this point if I were him. I should note however that this still has not been confirmed by any major outlets.

Travers nominations are out- West Coast, Tapwrit, Always Dreaming, Cloud Computing, Irap, Girvin, Good Samaritan, McCraken, Outplay, Gunnevera. For all that this crop has been declared a disappointment, this would easily constitute one of the best fields in recent Travers history.

No official reports still. If it is true though, I'll just repeat what I said in his thread - give the horse some time off on the farm, allow him to be a horse. Forget about his 3yo season, bring him back as a 4yo. He needs rest physically but above all, mentally.

Looks like Casse was asked about his issues today and he said "Like many superstar athletes, he thinks training is over rated!" Which may or may not count as a confirmation, but it sure doesn't give me any confidence.

Mccraken on Oklahoma this AM with rider standing up in irons at wire - last week finished well
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.
