I found this paragraph from Paulick's article on the FOY...and it may describe the moment Huracan' was injured. My bolding.

As expected, the speedy Three Rules went straight to the front of the field, but Irish War Cry, who set a slow pace in his Holy Bull romp, refused to settle behind that leader and was a bit rank in a tight second position early on. Made You Look and Takaful moved together in the third position, with Lookin for Eight a solid fifth turning into the backstretch. Gunnevera, meanwhile, had been bounced around by Huracan Americo even before the first turn, and was knocked off stride to settle into dead last through the first quarter mile.

As Firehorse put it in the FOY folder, Huracan Americo didn't seem to want to be there and spooked badly in the post parade. There was a pickup parked at the edge of the track near the gates that he clearly had misgivings about, to the point where Edgar had to dismount and let the crew walk the horse.

I saw a Facebook post from a lady that owned Spanish Chesntut as a riding horse, that he died. He had a diaphragmatic hernia that entrapped his bowel and it couldn't be operated on.

Know More, who broke his maiden on his first try by winning the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes (and it was his only win after that), has died from colic.
I wanna do bad things with you.

RIP Know More. Sounds like he didn't get to enjoy his retirement very long.

RIP old warrior. You were a stunningly handsome horse who on sheer looks would have turned heads on the show circuit. There's a couple of nice pictures of him in http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... ound-in-ky

I see The Pickett Factor was by Gold Tribute--wasn't that the more expensive yearling Bob and Beverly Lewis sent to DWL, while Silver Charm stayed with Baffert?
Anyway, sorry to see it end like that for a good, honest runner.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Second City, the '12 BC Derby winner was euthanized after breaking down in the Caixa Electronica S on April 1st.
He was out of Sis City, and had earned just short of $500,000 in a 44-race career.
RIP buddy

Almoonqith was injured during the running of the 3200m G1 Sydney Cup at Royal Randwick and was euthanized on track.
Because the injured horse was down on the track and couldn't be moved as the field approached the stretch, the stewards called off the race. The race caller and outriders tried to get everyone to pull up their horses, with mixed success.
Fortunately, no one actually ran into the horse or those attending to him, although I guess the riders who continued racing were not pleased that their win/placings were invalid.

On top of which they ought to get days, 30 days sounds like a good starting point.
