Next time you want anesthesia for a nonessential reason (dental, cosmetic) remember Harry's Son. :(
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

I saw that race and knew he was going to end up in this section. It was one of those horrible times when the horse went wrong, tossed the rider...and then kept trying and trying to run.
Nice-looking Super Saver colt, gone too soon. :(

Agreed, the continuing to try to run always is so traumatic- plus to be hit by a trailing horse...only good news is jock is ok, just sore.

Fifteen...so young. And her unborn foal was lost, too.

Copingaway was euthanized due to injuries sustained after clipping heels and going down in the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes at Gulfstream today.

This was his first start as a 4-year-old--and bless his heart, his 29th start overall (he ran 19 times last year)--where he was completely thrown in over his head. He was a vet scratch from a race at the end of November, only had one 4F workout in the last 60 days (December 15), and was thrown into a Grade 2 when he hadn't hit the board in the last two listed stakes he was entered in.

I realize that this was an accident, he clipped heels and went down, but he was 133-1 for a reason when thrown in so far over his head in this race. The horse raced sometimes once per week for a month or more at a time last year, and I just hate seeing his story end this way.

At least Bloodhorse saw fit to include the news about Copingaway near the end of this article, unlike DRF, which made no mention of the fact that a horse suffered fatal injuries during the race.

The race was marred in upper stretch when 4-year-old longshot Copingaway went down after appearing to clip heels when squeezed between Fire Away and Macagone. The Jaime Mejia trainee had to be euthanized due to his injuries. Jockey Jairo Rendon was taken to the hospital with a sore shoulder, but was reported to be up and walking.

So do I, BL. Whatever were they thinking? That he should be good for at least a $2,000 payday?

Next to the Pegasus, this is the race I was really looking forward to watching today...really puts a damper on a great day of racing. RIP Many Clouds, you always gave your all.

Sucks we've lost so many and we're only a month into 2017.... but to lose many clouds so tragically and unexpectedly?at such a young age and after such a nail biting performance against Thistlecrack? REALLY sucks RIP Many Clouds

Horse racing made it onto the lead page of Yahoo News...but it wasn't about the Pegasus. It was about the death of Many Clouds.

Whiskey Wizard, was going to the post yesterday at Gulfstream Park when he reared and flipped over hitting his head. He was euthanized due to several severe skull fractures.
