This 9 year old g. has been the concern of many on twitter. He's had 103 starts and earned $370,017 racing mostly on the New York circuit. Happy retirement, Metaurus.

Metaurus is being retired to ReRun.

S.O.S.‏ @NotCloudyAllDay
Replying to @IDGARASFU and @NBaach
Metaurus is one of the horses who actually started THE WATCH several years ago. He so deserves this.

Multiple group 1 winner Solow has been retired. I hope the handsome grey gelding has a long and pampered retirement.

The great Hong Kong miler Able Friend has been retired.

I was lucky enough to see some of his impressive wins when TVG started showing racing from Hong Kong. For such a big horse, he had a fierce turn-of-foot.

Galileo Gold has been retired after suffering a soft tissue injury during the running of the Lockinge Stakes.
I watched that race, and the way GG faded seemed unusual for the brilliant colt. He didn't always win, but he always fought to the wire. An injury would explain his disappointing performance.

It makes sense, but where did you read that? Bloodhorse, DRF and Paulick are lagging behind your source. ;) :P

Didn't even realize BH or DRF didn't have it. I guess you'd say she's all but retired. She's being shipped to the farm. Nothing officially announced but I was told highly unlikely she will run again. I guess I should've waited until it was announced... sorry guys!

Twilight Eclipse has been retired.

Twilight Eclipse Retired, to Begin Training in Eventing
Owner West Point Thoroughbreds said Twilight Eclipse, who once sold at auction for $1,000 but reached racing's heights, has been retired from racing.
Grade 1-winning multi-millionaire Twilight Eclipse retires sound and will begin retraining for a second career in eventing. Since March he was conditioned by Graham Motion after being handled most of his career by trainer Tom Albertrani.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had some success in his new career. IMHO, his Dynaformer bloodline makes him well-suited for the challenges of eventing.

The speedy sprinter/miler Obviously has been retired.

Grade 1 winner Obviously retired at 9
ARCADIA, Calif. – Obviously, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita last November and eight other stakes in a six-year career, has been retired after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in a foreleg.
The injury was detected in recent weeks, according to trainer Phil D’Amato. A 9-year-old gelding, Obviously won 13 of 29 starts and earned $2,321,751 for owners Anthony Fanticola and Joe Scardino.
“It’s something he’s never had before,” D’Amato said. “If he was a young horse, you might give him time and go back to training. At his age, it’s best to let it heal on its own.
“If I gave him three months, he wouldn’t make it to the Breeders’ Cup. He’s done enough for us.”
Obviously will remain with D’Amato’s barn in the short term and may be trained to be a stable pony.

I loved watching Obviously run. He was one of those horses with tremendous speed, who made everyone else chase him. And you had to be really, really good to catch him.
I hope he has a long, happy retirement, and it would be cool to see him out on the track again...ponying some young upstart who will probably never be as fast as his elder escort. ;)

That's really unfortunate. No telling when the injury occurred, but I know the colt kept trying to win all the way to the wire. Being so brave probably made it worse. :(

Grade 1-Winning Sprinter A. P. Indian Retired
Two-time grade 1-winning sprinter A. P. Indian has been retired, trainer Arnaud Delacour announced July 31.

The announcement of the 7-year-old Indian Charlie gelding's retirement came two days after an ankle ailment forced him to be scratched out of the July 29 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.

"He's always had some minor (ankle issues)," Delacour said. "It's getting a little bit difficult to manage right now. Even if the horse is technically sound, it would probably become performance limiting, so there is no other way.

Straight Fire retired to stand in California
Straight Fire, a multiple Grade 1-placed runner, has been retired from racing and will debut in 2018 at Legacy Ranch in Clements, Calif., for an advertised fee of $3,500.

The 3-year-old son of Dominus finished his career with one win in four career starts for earnings of $146,400. He raced for the partnership of Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing, LNJ Foxwoods, KMN Racing, J. Davenport, and Andrew Molasky, and he was trained by Keith Desormeaux.

Straight Fire broke his maiden in his second start at Del Mar, taking a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight by 10 ½ lengths. He came back to finish second in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, then third in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes at Santa Anita before being given the rest of the 2016 season off at WinStar Farm in Kentucky. The colt never raced again.
