His owner, Donald Blahut, died a few weeks ago on 6/26. They mention Caracortado in the article but no update.

The last update I can find was over a year ago and he was having the same quarter crack problems that plagued his career. His trainer was still hopeful to get him back to the races. I would hope they've decided to retire him.

wonder if he'll show up in a sale then, like an estate dispersal type thing?

Given that he's 9 and a gelding, and has had so many issues staying in training, my bet would be on him being retired to stay with Machowsky. He's had him in the barn since 2009 and seems genuinely attached to him, so I hope that's in the works. Maybe a pony?

geez, he's 9 already?? yeah, your thing seems very likely in that case. horses are like kids - you're following them at 3 and suddenly they're pushing double digits and ?? where'd the time go?

Yeah, no kidding! I've kept him in my VS just in case he ever comes back, but I'd much rather see him happy on a farm somewhere (ideally Old Friends!) or ponying if he doesn't like being a pasture ornament.
Soylent green is....tasty!!!

so, likely he's still with his trainer, in his trainer's barn? happy and spoiled, if he is, no doubt. good for him =)

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Great pic of Multiple graded stakes winner on dirt and turf Caracortado - now retired. Who happens to have 1/2 Bro Pavel running in #DWC18
