Owner Bryan Carney confirms that local, fan-favorite Crimson Giant has been retired at age 7 after 5th place finish @GGFracing yesterday.

I've been waiting for this news. Stutts ran the hell out of him last year with 20+ starts, and his new trainer picked up where he left off. Felt sorry for that horse all
along, but especially after he was dumped into the wolf pit in the SA Handicap. Aside from a precious few decent efforts, he never ran well in most of his 25 starts
since last January 1st. Crimson Giant deserves a long, healthy and happy retirement. Thanks, Sparrow Castle, for this good bit of news...

Yes, this is very good news. He's had some angels watching over him. Happy retirement, Crimson Giant.

I'm seeing a snippet on DRF that says, "The Grade 1 winner Moreno has been retired from racing. Again. Only this time, it’s for good."
Good.

Good.
Hopefully in good enough shape that he can at least be rehabbed to enjoy life as just a horse.

They said he was "too sore" to continue at the track, so hopefully it's nothing that some time off can't cure.

Le sigh. That workout time was incredibly fast, no wonder he's sore.
I hope he gets to just stand in a field and be a dude now. He deserves it.

I hope so very much as well. And that Guillot didn't leave it too late.

Technically this guy was retired about a year or so ago, but...

Lovely stakes winner Master Dunker has been adopted and is off to a new career :D

Looks like they're heading him towards eventing. Better than steeplechasing, but still not too high on my list... :(

What makes you think eventing, and not hunter/jumper? :?:

The 2nd photo was pre-adoption, trying to give potential adopters a feel for his athleticism. Who knows what the person who adopted him will go on to do with him.

Edit: From Remember Me Rescue, where he was adopted out of: "Master Dunker had 6 months retraining under western saddle by Dallas Keen. He side passes and half passes easily off leg and gives kisses when you ask for them."

If all else fails, that should sway the judges!

Sounds like me just might have a future in dressage, which would be lovely.

From DRF: The multiple graded stakes winner Nates Mineshaft, who holds the track record for 1 1/8 miles at Fair Grounds, has been retired, trainer Anne Smith said. He’s 9.

Is he is gelding? I looked 3 places and saw, horse, ridgling, and gelding. Then it says he retired to stud in 2014 but he has no report of mares bred. Jockey Club has him as a gelding but he raced in January and was a ridgling then.

He's a ridgling. I'm wondering if he was retired with the intention of sending him to stud for 2014, but maybe it was an issue for him and they brought him back? He didn't race from Nov 2013 to Sep 2014. Who knows

That is what is weird. The Jockey Club lists him as both a ridgling and a gelding..??
