Per DRF ... The official diagnosis on Alonso is that he has a hairline fracture in his tailbone ... He should be out 6 weeks ...

Julien's status is supposed to be updated soon ...

And per someone who commented on the article ... They said they spoke with people on the backside at Fairplex who said NOTH of the horses are ok ... Just a bit sore.

WHEW!!! For all involved! :)

I reinjured (but didn't fracture) my tailbone 8 years ago, and it is still very uncomfortable if I sit for too long. Tailbone injuries are something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy- they hurt a lot and then when people find out your injury there are the inevitable "broken butt" jokes and laughs... Funny for the joke tellers, but not so funny when you are trying to return to work after a two week vacation spent basically prone

Wow! That's awesome, and pretty incredible. It looked bad when it happened.

Z Medford Springer fell in the first tonight at Charles Town while leading at the top of the stretch, it did not look good.

Monmouth Park - Race 8 today - Flatout Royal broke down and HOV Lane then fell over him. :( Flatout Royal broke through the rail while rolling and HOV Lane appeared to jump up but be severely injured. Can anyone confirm?

Looked terrible and TVG advised that the jockey was being treated for a wrist injury and the filly was confirmed to have "broken down" so i'm assuming she was euthanized on track.

It was actually race #10, and the chart states that Flatout Royal broke down, which almost always means that the horse is gone. I saw it and it looked really bad, not sure about Hov Lane, but I would venture to say that their was some type of injury to say the least.

I'm sorry to tell you that he didn't make it. Fractured right front sesamoids and was euthanized. Going to post a pic of him in the In Memorium section.

Thank you for the update. Dammit. 0-for-8. 52/1. It's a shame he never found his true calling, obviously it wasn't racing. RIP, handsome boy.

Jockey Oliver Castillo was apparently seriously injured in a terrible spill in the 3rd at Meadowlands. I say "apparently," because what I'm hearing is very serious, but haven't seen anything official yet.

Also in the same race Neva Masquerade was pulled up and vanned off, or maybe fell and was vanned off: chart is confusing. (Castillo was thrown when his horse stumbled over the horse who fell.)

Gulfstream race 6 (maiden claiming): Be Extraordinary, a 2 yr old filly making her first start, clipped heels and went down hard with jockey Quincy Hamilton. Jill's Reflection then lost her jockey, Mario Argueta. I haven't heard a peep what the injuries might have been, but it didn't look good :(

Fractured ankle, fractured C6 and C7, pulled many ligaments in neck. Agent says, "basically he fell on his head" . . . but, hey, "other than that he's doing good."

No word on Neva Masquerade, but Castillo's mount seems to have escaped with some dings.

Spicer Cub went lame after finishing a good second in the Maryland Million Starter Handicap yesterday. This morning his trainer said he has a hind-end issue that will require surgery, but should come back fine.

You may remember Spicer as the horse who first bolted in a race, then ran behind the starting gate parked in the stretch.
