Jeez - wishing a Merry Christmas doesn't seem to be popular on this board.

Now, now... Merry Christmas, and can we please have an extra helping of peace on earth and good will to men with that?

Or people are celebrating with loved ones and haven't time to respond?

I, myself, am at the hospital with my 3 yr old son, who is on day 6 of his stay and day 4 of pediatric ICU. With no end in sight (hopefully he'll be out by the end of the week - he's on the upswing at least, we think). With no idea what exactly he has, other than something respiratory. I'm responding now because my son is asleep on me and I can't sleep.

So, yknow, you'll excuse me for reading your message without responding earlier. It is, however, a really cute wreath in your original post.

No one need apologize for checking in late - I'm just looking at the read count and so few responses in comparison, and it's not like other threads weren't active. This is not something new. Wishing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year just doesn't seem to be a popular sentiment on TBC, and I don't know the reason why. Perhaps people are afraid they'd be offending someone by doing so?

"Now, now" (?) Catalina - peace on earth good will to men (and women) along with Merry Christmas - I'm so sorry I left that part out. ;)

I am truly sorry for anyone going through stress and grief on this holiday. I truly wish it could be merry for all. Two years ago during Christmas I spent anxious time in the hospital with the news I had to be operated on for pancreatic cancer. But against the % odds, I survived and so far - cancer free. I wish the same good news for all. I guess that's why these times have become even more precious for me and how and why I sincerely wish the same for everyone else.

We shared our home with friends for Christmas Eve dinner. Joey and Tuffy were spoiled rotten with Christmas presents. Other friends shared their home with us for Christmas day dinner. It was lovely.

Now on to a Happy and most important Healthy New Year, and may Gun Runner win the Pegasus.

Sorry for my terse reply - just stressed. We can't get the kiddo better. He's doing worse again today. Either sleeping or hunched forward, staring into space. Shaking from nebulizer treatments because he's had maybe one meal in 4 days and we can't get a doc in here to explain why my tube fed kid can't be, you know, tube fed. He's a skinny kid to begin with.

Plus, his bipap mask doesn't fix quite well. The only team that has access to the proper equipment is the sleep clinic and they didn't show up on Friday for consult, were out the weekend and the holiday and won't be back until tomorrow. Meanwhile, if my kid's mask slips a little, it pinches his nose and he can't breathe.

What a rough time for you and your family, SD. :(
You must be so exhausted. I wish I could be there to help advocate for you and your child. You know...stomp up and down through the hospital offices, looking for answers, hollering quietly at administrators and doctors, phoning specialists, annoying anyone in charge, and generally being the squeakiest wheel in that half of the country?
Poor boy. Hope you can get some food into him soon.

starrydreamer - I am so sorry. I have placed a message under one of our electric window candles asking for a complete recovery of your precious child. It's a good system - I have a high success rate.

I really appreciate it, everyone.

We finally got the doc in the room last night to come up with an alternative so my kid can get some calories in him. Their solution is to fit him with a temporary GJ tube so they can feed formula into his intestines. They want to keep his stomach empty in case they need to intubate him - which is what I suspected. He's had a J tube before and it generally sucks but they promised it would be removed before he left the hospital.

But man, it's a really eerie thing when your 3 yr old looks at you like he doesn't know you and doesn't respond to anyone. I'd never seen him like that before. And now of course I have to work. My husband is with him and reports that Ian was watching a movie, saw a character with an inhaler, and indicated that he has an inhaler too. So he's coming back from wherever he was.

Enough about me and my woes!! Tell me your happy Christmas stories! And happy New Year to everyone.
