Jerry Lewis, the comedian and filmmaker who was adored by many, disdained by others, but unquestionably a defining figure of American entertainment in the 20th century, died on Sunday morning at his home in Las Vegas. He was 91.

His death was confirmed by his publicist, Candi Cazau.

As a younger man back in the Martin and Lewis days, he drove me right up the wall - could only take so much of that character. I preferred him in the later stages of his
career, and his serious roles in movies (i.e. The King of Comedy with Deniro) are admirable. Nevertheless, he was a true legend and shoes like that are tough to fill.

RIP
