On to the next level with healing! Almost 4 months after losing our beloved Soda Cracker, we've had our hearts taken by another. We weren't looking at all, but July 1st there she was, she caught my eye... much like Soda Cracker did the day I first saw him almost 12 years ago (when, like now, we weren't actively looking). A good friend that lives on the Navajo Res by the four corners area where she rescues all kinds of dogs and horses (working sometimes with a nearby HS) posted this pic of littermates found at about 12 weeks old (ours is on the left). She pretty much became ours the moment I commented "She's so cute... I wish!"

So, this past Saturday, 4 weeks after first seeing her photo, they got her a ride down south to us.

We named her "Chiricahua" [cheer-i-cah-waw] after an Apache tribe and favorite mountain range near us in SE AZ. She's settled in well, a very happy pup who's never been inside yet has adapted wonderfully. The other dogs and her get along great, though there's a controlled period of adjustment as they get familiar. We think she's likely a mix of heeler and beagle, though who knows?

Puppy zoomies are the best...
