Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, Ivan Rodriguez elected to Baseball Hall of Fame

A former unanimous MVP, an elite leadoff hitter and one of the game’s most complete catchers were elected Wednesday into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, which continues to slowly open its doors to players linked to performance-enhancing drugs.

Why Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens will get the Hall call

Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. What a cute Hall of Fame induction day couple they're going to make. Feel free to imagine what that day will look like -- because guess what? Barry and the Rocket are going to get elected.

Sorry, I can't tell you what year. But what the 2017 vote totals told us was as clear as an undetectable steroid: This is happening.

To grieve Jose Fernandez's death, Giancarlo Stanton took life-changing journey

His friend was gone, but the world kept spinning. So Giancarlo Stanton journeyed off to see that world, to find perspective in that world.

Team USA answers critics with inspired win, advances to WBC semis

United States ballplayers and Major League Baseball have received a fair amount of grief for their lack of interest in the World Baseball Classic: That some of the greatest U.S. players such as Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw declined to participate. That teams don't really want many players participating in it, either. That U.S. fans have much less interest compared to those from other countries such as the Dominican Republic and Japan.

U.S. win over Japan sets up World Baseball Classic finale many wanted to see

They gathered together for the first time two weeks ago, unsure what to expect in the World Baseball Classic, with a sense of insecurity that they even made the right choice to play in this international tournament.

Now, here they are after defeating Japan, 2-1, on Tuesday night, going where no USA team before them has ever gone before.

Marcus Stroman's heroics lead USA to first WBC title

A pitcher from a Canadian club, who could have suited up for Puerto Rico, was the United States' hero in the championship game of the World Baseball Classic.

Marcus Stroman had the opportunity to pitch for the opponent, because his mother is of Puerto Rican heritage, but instead led the way in giving the USA its first WBC title in the fourth iteration of the tournament.

Inside Andrew McCutchen’s winter of discontent

Four months ago, Michael McKenry nearly flattened Andrew McCutchen in an Orlando hotel. It was around midday just after a conference for Christian athletes wrapped up when McKenry, the former Pirates catcher, and his wife, Jaclyn, turned a corner and hit the brakes to avoid crashing into two of their closest friends, McCutchen and his wife, Maria.

Pirates' playoff hopes take a big hit with Marte's suspension

Losing a player to a drug suspension is never a welcome bit of news for a team, but if that headline ever comes down, you'd prefer it to be your fifth outfielder or maybe that last reliever out of the pen.

That is decidedly not the scenario put before the Pirates, who lost starting center fielder Starling Marte to an 80-game suspension. This is merely a flesh wound if you're exceedingly optimistic. The reality is that it's a major loss for the Bucs.

MRI confirms partial lat tear for Mets' Noah Syndergaard

Noah Syndergaard is out indefinitely after an MRI on Monday showed the New York Mets pitcher suffered a partial tear of his right lat muscle, the team announced.

"Pitcher Noah Syndergaard underwent an MRI this morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery. The MRI revealed a partial tear of the right lat muscle," the Mets said in a statement. "At this point, there is no timeframe for his return. He will be placed on the 10-day disabled list."
