NHL 2016 - 17

Can the Maple Leafs become the NHL's version of the Chicago Cubs?

The party in Chicago is still going strong, just like it would for a long time in these parts if the Toronto Maple Leafs ever end the NHL's longest Stanley Cup drought.

Flyers outslug Oilers for seventh straight win

A sedate first-period that had little action turned into the wildest game of the season at the electric Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.

Capitals' Game 6 win makes you wonder what Penguins have left

On the day before the Washington Capitals faced elimination for the second consecutive game, coach Barry Trotz shared his expectations for what he wanted to see out of his team.

"All it's going to take is all we have," Trotz said Sunday.

In goalie showdown, Nashville Predators pounce in OT, win conference finals opener

In any goaltenders' duel this postseason, it would be unwise to bet against Pekka Rinne.

Rinne's Nashville Predators prevailed 3-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Friday despite 43 saves by his counterpart, Anaheim Ducks netminder John Gibson. Rinne stopped 27 of 29 shots, including some sterling chances from Anaheim's top players. Rinne leads all goalies this postseason in wins, save percentage, goals-against average and shutouts.

I would be so happy for PK if the Preds win the cup... except that means James Neal would too. UGH.

Still wish the Leafs had made it through the first round... *sigh*

Senators flex scoring muscle in Game 3 romp over the Penguins

The Ottawa Senators got here by playing stingy defense. They've survived with a relentless patience that comes with a trap that has frustrated the opposition to no end.

In Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, the Senators flexed a muscle that was new to them in a postseason that is becoming a bit magical -- a good old-fashioned romp.

Ducks even Western finals at 2, beating Predators 3-2 in OT

Corey Perry's shot deflected in off Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban's stick 10:25 into overtime, and the Ducks snapped the Predators' 10-game home playoff winning streak with a 3-2 victory Thursday night that evened the Western Conference finals at 2-2.
