Notre Dame changes QBs, can't change luck in 17-10 loss to Stanford

Notre Dame tried everything, even a quarterback switch.

But the downward spiral continued for the Irish.

Stanford center Jesse Burkett recovered a fumble in the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter, and the Cardinal held on to win 17-10 in front of 80,795 fans at Notre Dame Stadium.

Michigan fan leaves miniature flag on yard of Urban Meyer's home

Headed for a potentially epic edition of The Game, one Michigan fan took the rivalry seriously enough to head behind enemy lines -- and directly into Urban Meyer's yard.

No. 1 Alabama extends win streak against No. 13 LSU, 10-0

Alabama's visit to LSU on Saturday night should have been shot in black and white. It should have been captured on spools of film, developed in a darkroom and then shipped to Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge theaters to be shown between "Steamboat Willie" and newsreel updates from Normandy.

Losing to Kansas should be Charlie Strong's last straw

Texas president Greg Fenves and athletic director Mike Perrin are probably thinking the same thing right now: It’s time for a coaching change.

Charlie Strong made that path painfully obvious with the Longhorns’ 24-21 overtime loss to a 1-9 Kansas team Saturday night. The embattled head coach’s time at Texas is likely coming to an end.

Temple football coach Matt Rhule going to Baylor

Matt Rhule, who turned Temple from a two-win team to a conference football champion in four seasons, has parlayed that success into the new head coaching job at Baylor.

Rhule, whose hiring was announced by the Big 12 school on Tuesday, departed in the same sudden, swift way, his team scored in beating Navy, 34-10, in the American Athletic Conference championship game on Saturday.
