Exactly!
One may say that Wind in Her Hair is the best partner Sunday Silence ever met, too. :D

The Breeders’ Cup heroine whose influence is felt all over the world

Kent Desormeaux crouched low over the Desert Stormer’s withers, urging her on through the mud. A G3-winning mare in a field of colts, Desert Stormer had no business being on the lead in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. With Mr. Greeley on her flank, she dug in deeper, repelling his challenge and splashing across the Belmont Park wire. She upset the 1995 Sprint - only her fourth stakes win - paying $31 to win.

That was 22 years ago. Now, Desert Stormer is 28 and living out her days in a pasture at Dell Ridge Farm in Lexington. She is oblivious to the fact that her daughters have gone on to be both successful racemares and producers all over the world. Instead she is simply a horse, sharing a field with three other pensioned mares. She is lovingly cared for, but is a long way from where she started.

I was just flipping through my copy of the Bloodhorse Breeders Cup edition. She ran tough in that race, so much heart! I love reading about the old girls!

This was posted in the 'In Memoriam 2018' thread' - Dreaming of Anna, champion 2-year-old filly of 2006, died January 9 of a ruptured aorta. She was only 14.

It was originally reported in the DRF.

An updated article is on page 7 of the Bloodhorse Daily PDF

Beholder confirmed to be in foal to Uncle Mo

carole

Beholder should be getting close to foaling her Uncle Mo colt. Not today or tomorrow, but pretty soon.

I believe Spendthrift is revamping Beholder's website with a blog that will keep fans updated with how she and baby B are doing.

Love The Chase is currently expecting a foal by Pioneerof The Nile and is going to Uncle Mo. She has a yearling half-brother by Tapit to California Chrome.

Her 3-year-old son and full brother to Chrome, Faversham, is being pointed to the California Cup Derby on Feb. 19. Her two fillies are now broodmares.

Is Lady Eli beginning to mellow now she’s preparing for a new career?
There are no orange traffic cones set up as a warning barrier around her territory, and her primary visitors these days are a just small gaggle of plucky Canada geese. She’s miles away from the nearest racetrack now. Only the sounds of soft falling snow and nickers from nearby paddocks reach her ears on the chill breeze of the winter morning.

Lady Eli, the tempestuous whirlwind whose inner fire could spark trepidation among those near her but fueled her recovery from laminitis and improbable return to G1 victories, is settling in to the quiet, pastoral life at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington.

“She’s doing everything right,” said farm manager John Rasmussen of the 6-year-old, who was crowned America’s champion turf female during the Eclipse Awards ceremony yesterday at Gulfstream Park. “Hopefully, she’ll continue to do so. She’s just a very special horse.”

The foals left front (in the picture) is weird looking, color wise.

It looks like one of the legs was stripped of the baby fuzz below the canon bone. You can see on the other leg the dark spot where the patches have started to fall off. I think this baby could be a true black... or a pretty darn dark bay/brown.

Agreed. It's a stunning photo that caught the mares almost forming a heart.
