171 is the Eclipse-winning sprinter, Finest City, who got a video intro. Broodmare prospect ONLY. I wonder if the Japanese buyer(s) will try to add another City Zip mare to the collection.
$1,500,000.

The stallion prospects, 190 Kentuckian), 191 (Comfort) and 192 (Ralis) are out.

196 is the Dubawi filly, Quidura, who is being promoted as the only graded stakes winning Dubawi filly being offered at public auction anywhere. And apparently Motion wants her back in his barn to continue racing. $3,600,000.

Question: who pays the stud fees for mares in foal? Previous owner, or new owner? I feel like it's previous owner when foal stands and nurses, but now second guessing myself...

New owner
Ouch. That could hurt lol! Thanks!
No the previous owner has to pay the stud fee before selling the mare.

Stellar Wind, isn't she in this sale? Can't find a catalogue for tomorrow. I'm missing something, apparently. Thank you.

Sale is finally over...now I can go watch the Melbourne Cup coverage. Bet the horses are happy. The ones near the end of the sale were probably REALLY missing their dinner. ;)

Catch a Glimpse will almost certainly be going to Lord Kanaloa, because K I Farm, the breeder of the stallion, is trying hard to establish the stallion as the next leading sire in Japan. For now, their efforts seems successful; Kanaloa's been found in 2nd or 3rd of the 2yo (not the first season) sires list.

Thank you. I went to that site but it's kind of confusing to use. Fasig Tipton is much easier. I'll try again tomorrow hope I'm home from work in time to watch. Or, I'll just come back here to see what happened with her. Appreciate the info!

LOL, don't feel bad.....
Rick Porter says the final price of $9.5M was "double" what the reserve was on Songbird. "It's unbelievable, I'm just glad Mandy got her."
