I don't know if this has been shown here before. I watched it the other night. I really enjoyed watching it and is about an hour long. In the video it says even the Japanese breeders weren't keen on using Sunday Silence when he first arrived in Japan, as they didn't like the looks of him. But they changed their minds when his first crop made it to the track.

That video has been posted before though I can't remember if it was in this specific thread :D
And yeah I remember them mentioning breeders were hesitant because of his stifle.

Fusaichi Pandora(JPN)[2003M. Sunday Silence(JPN) x Lotta Lace(USA) by Nureyev(USA)] became her sire's 27th G1 producing daughter, when her 3yo filly Almond Eye(JPN)(by Lord Kanaloa) won the G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) 1600m turf at Hanshin on April 8th 2018.

Fusaichi Pandora(JPN), herself a G1 winner from Sunday Silence's final crop, passed away last year.

Oju Chosan(JPN), 2011H. Stay Gold(JPN) x Shadow Silhouette(JPN) by Symboli Kris S(USA), won his third consecutive Nakayama Grand Jump easily despite facing setbacks earlier this year with minor health problems that forced him to pass up an intended prep start before his history-making challenge in extending his J-G1 winning streak to five.
His dominating victory this year broke the previous race record set Up to Date(JPN) in 2015 by 3.6 seconds.

There had been a succesful nick between Stay Gold and Mejiro McQueen mare, which produced the likes of Orfevre and Gold Ship etc.
Does Orfevre now form a strong nick with Forty Niner line mare?

A mare named Chi Omega had a beautiful California Chrome filly on April 9. Her dam, the G1 winner Joyful Victory, is bred similarly to Refinement, the granddam of Lucky Lilac.

Chi Omega is by Tapit from the Seattle Slew sire line through A.P. Indy. Joyful Victory's maternal granddam was by Alydar.

Since we don't see Alydar too often in top pedigrees anymore, I think it's exciting to see him in the pedigrees of Orfevre's champion filly and the lovely new Chrome filly. Video of the Chrome filly: https://www.facebook.com/lisa.mathes.3/ ... 78888/?t=1

I would say he is represented ok considering his sire line has pretty much died out in the US. He is represented by Arch(Blame, Uncle Mo), Hard Spun, Quality Road, etc. off the top of my head.

Then it always seems that any top runner from Courtly Dee's female line has Alydar in there.

Was Stella Madird(USA) (by Alydar) a popular mare in the USl?
Her contributions to breedings in Japan have been enormous.
Ten years ago, there was a poster whose namesake was Stella Madrid in this forum, as long as I remember.

It's a very sad day....

Special Week(JPN) [1995H. Sunday Silence(USA) x Campaign Girl(JPN) by Maruzensky(JPN)], one of the best sons of Sunday Silence(USA), passed away at Hidaka Taiyo Bokujo where he had been pensioned on April 27th 2018.
The 4x G1 winner (Japanese Derby, Tenno Sho Spring, Tenno Sho Autumn and Japan Cup) sired the likes of Cesario(JPN), Buena Vista(JPN) and Toho Jackal(JPN) at stud.
He was such a popular horse.

I vaguely remember her. I'm sure she had her fans. I thought I remembered her from the book, "A Wild Ride" but that was her full sister Tis Juliet.

Both Tis Juliet and Stella Madrid were G1 winners in New York, right?
There were many Alydar mares that were imported to Japan in 90's.
One of Tis Juliet's daughters by Wild Again was imported to Japan, too.
Now I have already started to hope that Lucky Lilac will be sent to the states to visit one of the Calumet stallions some day.
