So wait Casta Diva ran twice in the space of 5 days??? And she won second time out?
Guess she really did prefer the longer distance. And watching the replay of her first one, she got stopped and stuck in traffic, wasn't for lack of speed or energy.

And that fellow's blaze is very intriguing. Looks almost like the veins in wood!

Clongowes (New Approach (IRE) - Punctilious (Danehill)) owned by Godolphin seems to have some white in the tip of his tail, he's registered as bay.

About a month or so ago there was a horse in Britain who, having switched yards, ran 4 times in 11 days and won all 4 of those races. He's having a well deserved break now though. Wish I remembered the name of that horse! There's definitely a Racing Post article about it somewhere.

Unique New Zealand-bred filly Casta Diva has posted her first winning strike in Japan.

The white daughter of High Chaparral was successful over 2600m at Hakodate in her third race day appearance.

Casta Diva was bred by Windsor Park Stud and was sold by them during New Zealand Bloodstock's 2016 Premier Sale session at Karaka to the Dearest Club for $450,000.

She is out of the winning Zabeel mare The Opera House, a three-quarter sister to the former two-time Australian Horse of the Year Might And Power.

The Opera House's white Shamexpress colt sold earlier this year for $510,000 to the China Horse Club and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock.

Thanks! She even lovelier in full stride. Good to see her stretch out to get that win.

At the start of the replay I thought, hmm, has her saddle slipped...?

She was very green, intimidated & tired in the stretch... but she had the lead for a little bit anyway. Better luck next time!

Interesting quote from her trainer:

“She’s a bit of a talker,” said Callaghan. “You can’t walk into the barn without her saying hello or greeting you. She used to scream all the time, yelling at her friends when they came in and out, but with the consistent training I think she’s matured a bit. But you can’t sneak into the barn. If I forget something and the barn is quiet and I have to go down the shed row she’s like the police, she alerts everybody. She’s not quite as loud anymore, but she definitely gives you a little call. I feel like I know her communication. From her ‘hello’ when you walk in, to yelling at her friend, to ‘you need to feed me now’ – she has different nickers for all those, which is pretty funny. She’s very intelligent. She looks different, and she acts different.”

That's a nice photo. 8-)

It was not Zenya but his son Teruya who discovered the talent of Northern Taste(CAN) at the Saratoga yearling sale in 1972.

I recall Zenya and Teruya Yoshida saying multiple times in interviews that Shadai wouldn't be what it is without Northern Taste. The money from his stud fees allowed them to purchase Sunday Silence, who then allowed them to spend over $100,000,000 in 10 years on broodmares.

Plus Sunday Silence nicked really well with Northern Taste mares, getting 12% stakes winners.

Godolphin's Face It, a 1/2 to It's Tricky, deserves a mention.
