Ocala Stud announced that its first-year stallion Jess’s Dream had the first mare he covered in his debut breeding season confirmed as being in foal.
The first mare covered by Jess’s Dream was the Harlan’s Holiday mare Holiday Flare, a half-sister to stakes winners Candrea and Dream of Angels. Owned by Ocala Stud, Holiday Flare was pronounced in foal with a heartbeat at 28 days on Monday.
Jess’s Dream is by champion Curlin out of champion Rachel Alexandra, making him the only horse at stud whose sire and dam were both Horses of the Year. A Stonestreet homebred named after the late Jess Jackson, the 5-year-old bay was won his debut at Saratoga in last-to-first fashion.
Jess’s Dream is standing his first season at J. Michael O’Farrell Jr.’s Ocala Stud in Florida for a fee of $5,000 stands and nurses.
Tamarando, the 2013 Del Mar Futurity (G1) winner, has been retired from racing and will enter stud this year at Harris Farms in California for $2,500 live foal.
Bred and raced by Larry and Marianne Williams, Tamarando won at distances from 5 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/8 miles in his first 10 starts at 2 and 3. He won the Del Mar Futurity in his stakes debut and the Real Quiet Stakes in 2013, and won El Camino Real Derby (G3) in 2014, all on synthetic surfaces. He also placed in the 2013 FrontRunner Stakes (G1) on dirt and CashCall Futurity (G1) on synthetic.
