You know, 100 years ago, a stallion like that would have been prized as a cavalry remount stud...a fairly fast TB, proven at the races, and shown to be sturdy and strong. I will also presume that Hollywood' has a good mind, without vicious habits, or he wouldn't still be intact.

Really liked his sire Wheaton as he was by Alydar and also a 1/2 brother to Storm Cat. Although owned by Overbook, he started his stud career in Florida, then moved to Pin Oak in PA where he was starting to make his name as a sire. Unfortunately he broke his leg in his stall. Wheaton is also the sire of the good runner Russell Road. I remember reading after Wheaton died that the trainers of his offspring said they loved them and were sturdy and gutsy. If you look at his offspring there are a couple of others that raced over 100 times and many that raced over 50.

10yo Grandpa Roy, who spends much of his time running at Turf Paradise, is entered in the Cotton Fitzsimmons Mile H. at
TP this Saturday (1/18/14). At 77 - 16-11-6, he has a little win streak going, and aims to continue into 2014.

10 yo Trekkie ran today at Beulah. Bred by Jacks or Better Farm. 88 starts 16-18-20 with $136,926 earned. Finished 7 of 8 in a $2500 claimer. I wish I had $2500 and a place to install him as a lawn ornament.

10yo war mare Sun City will make her 2014 debut and her 107th start tomorrow (1/28/14) at Turf Paradise
in a $3,000 claimer. She has a huge following out there...

Good luck to her...

Sun City came in 4th (of 6). She led most of the mile and was passed in the stretch. She's owned and raced by her breeder, exclusively at Turf Paradise and Emerald Downs mostly in claiming races. I think she's had the same trainer for all her races. That alone seems remarkable to me. What a grand war mare indeed!

Someone recently asked about popular Pacific Northwest runner Spaghetti Mouse (Archie), inquiring as to his status, and it
appears that he was officially retired in 2012, and was (is) retraining to be a jumper. He raced for his entire career at Hastings and
racked up some bucks along the way. Hope he is enjoying his next chapter!

Spaghetti Mouse (B, G, 4/20/2002) Archers Bay - Desert Mouse by With Approval
MGSW - 52 - 12-15-8, $859,165
