CTA is looking for a home for My Honey Laurie.

Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Inc.
We’ve been asked to retire this 10y mare with 105 starts (76 races NY & PA and 29 races in PR). She’s earned $267,000. We’re told her breeder and first owner (he raced her for over 3 yrs) aren’t in the TB biz anymore. Ideas for aftercare? No more racing for her. Sanctuary or maybe light flat riding only if vet gives clearance... After all she’s done for Racing, now Racing needs to do something for her (ie, a good retirement).

Today at Santa Anita, 10-year old ROYAL FJ 101 starts and $567,000 in the bank, looks plenty dependable in his second race back off a two month freshening for Carava/Pedroza dropping in against a suspect group at the bottom level in the 8th race. 4/1 on the morning line!

Good luck to all who dare.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Came in 7th today. All told, he's been racing well amongst his peers this year. Still cranking away...

Happy retirement, Royal F J.

Venerable gelding Royal F J retired at 10
The 10-year-old gelding Royal F J has run his last race.

On Thursday at Santa Anita, Royal F J finished seventh in a $6,250 claimer as a 4-1 shot, beaten 9 1/2 lengths. He won 9 of 102 starts and earned $568,150 in a career that began with trainer Jack Carava at Santa Anita in 2009. Carava was Royal F J’s final trainer.

“I always said if he ran a bad race without an excuse, that would be it,” Carava said Friday. “He didn’t fire.

“I’ve got several offers to give him a good home. He’s a cool horse.”

Carava trained Royal F J for 92 starts for a variety of owners. Royal F J was claimed for $8,000 last October by a partnership that includes Chris Curtis, Howard and Janet Siegel, and Carava.

Royal F J retires with nine wins from 102 starts.
