From Brisnet

Multiple stakes winner Jose Sea View (Badge of Silver) heads a field of eight three-year-olds in Monday's $100,000 Tom Ridge S. at Presque Isle Downs. The bay gelding captured his stakes debut in the Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile S. over this track in September and looks to add a third stakes score to his resume in the six-furlong sprint over the Tapeta. Grade 3-placed Cee 'n O (Silver Train) is still looking for his first stakes and is entered in here off a 9 1/4-length optional claiming victory at Gulfstream Park in March. Other contenders include Bray's Secret (Denis of Cork), who was last seen running third in the Fitz Dixon J. Memorial Juvenile, and Mister Pollard (Pollard's Vision), who exits a runner-up finish in the Bachelor S. at Oaklawn Park last month.

From Brisnet

Newtown Anner Stud and Joseph Bulger's Falling Sky (Lion Heart) dropped in class to score his third stakes in Saturday's $100,000 Donald LeVine Memorial H. at Parx. The four-year-old colt made his move near the top of the stretch to take the lead and held on at the wire for a half-length victory. The George Weaver trainee went seven furlongs on the fast main track in 1:21 4/5 with Edgar Prado aboard. Traffic Light, 2-1 favorite and 2013 winner of this race, finished a game third. Falling Sky was coming off a 10th-place finish in the Churchill Downs S. (G2) earlier last month. The bay has a career line which reads 13-5-1-1 and $385,118 in lifetime earnings...

From Brisnet, Ken and Sarah Ramsey's Awesome Flower (Flower Alley) came with a game rally in the stretch of Sunday's $100,000 Windward at Presque Isle Downs, briefly dueled with pacesetter Stoptalkingmaria (Whywhywhy), then put that rival away and drew off for a 2 1/4-length victory as the 8-5 favorite under jockey Ron Allen Jr. The Mike Maker pupil tracked in midpack early but finished up in 1:36 4/5 for a mile on the Tapeta all-weather surface. Awesome Flower paid $5.80 for earning her third career stakes win and advancing her scorecard to 25-7-4-5, $354,703.

Assateague leads all the way in Penny Memorial

Assateague seized the initiative at the start and never came under serious pressure leading wire to wire in Tuesday's Grade 3, $200,000 Dr. James Penny Memorial at Parx Racing, earning her first graded stakes victory with a 2 1/4-length decision.

Jerardi: Pennsylvania Derby lures the big horse, nears Grade 1 status

The Pennsylvania Derby was run on Labor Day from 1990 to 2009, a nice race for 3-year-olds that had very little national juice. It was too close to the Travers and too far from the Breeders’ Cup to attract the best horses in the division.
