From Brisnet

Multiple stakes winner Jose Sea View (Badge of Silver) heads a field of eight three-year-olds in Monday's $100,000 Tom Ridge S. at Presque Isle Downs. The bay gelding captured his stakes debut in the Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile S. over this track in September and looks to add a third stakes score to his resume in the six-furlong sprint over the Tapeta. Grade 3-placed Cee 'n O (Silver Train) is still looking for his first stakes and is entered in here off a 9 1/4-length optional claiming victory at Gulfstream Park in March. Other contenders include Bray's Secret (Denis of Cork), who was last seen running third in the Fitz Dixon J. Memorial Juvenile, and Mister Pollard (Pollard's Vision), who exits a runner-up finish in the Bachelor S. at Oaklawn Park last month.

From Brisnet

Newtown Anner Stud and Joseph Bulger's Falling Sky (Lion Heart) dropped in class to score his third stakes in Saturday's $100,000 Donald LeVine Memorial H. at Parx. The four-year-old colt made his move near the top of the stretch to take the lead and held on at the wire for a half-length victory. The George Weaver trainee went seven furlongs on the fast main track in 1:21 4/5 with Edgar Prado aboard. Traffic Light, 2-1 favorite and 2013 winner of this race, finished a game third. Falling Sky was coming off a 10th-place finish in the Churchill Downs S. (G2) earlier last month. The bay has a career line which reads 13-5-1-1 and $385,118 in lifetime earnings...

From Brisnet, Ken and Sarah Ramsey's Awesome Flower (Flower Alley) came with a game rally in the stretch of Sunday's $100,000 Windward at Presque Isle Downs, briefly dueled with pacesetter Stoptalkingmaria (Whywhywhy), then put that rival away and drew off for a 2 1/4-length victory as the 8-5 favorite under jockey Ron Allen Jr. The Mike Maker pupil tracked in midpack early but finished up in 1:36 4/5 for a mile on the Tapeta all-weather surface. Awesome Flower paid $5.80 for earning her third career stakes win and advancing her scorecard to 25-7-4-5, $354,703.

Jerardi: Pennsylvania Derby lures the big horse, nears Grade 1 status

The Pennsylvania Derby was run on Labor Day from 1990 to 2009, a nice race for 3-year-olds that had very little national juice. It was too close to the Travers and too far from the Breeders’ Cup to attract the best horses in the division.

Jerardi: Pennsylvania tracks hit the nail on the head with event days

Whenever anybody asks me about the state of horse racing, I tell them it is an event-driven sport without enough “events.” Whatever happens on the other 364 days, the Kentucky Derby remains incredibly popular. In fact, you could make a numbers-based argument that it may be more popular than it has ever been. I think that is also true of the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes when a Triple Crown is on the line.

Jerardi: A closer inspection of Pennsylvania Derby Day bias

As the Sept. 20 Pennsylvania Derby Day card was playing out, just about everybody was talking about the track bias that appeared to favor horses running on the rail. In the immediate aftermath, I was less sure there was a bias than most and decided to give it some time and then take a critical look at the data.

From Brisnet

Noted marathoner Ever Rider (Rider Stripes) and Grade 3 veteran Easter Gift (Hard Spun) are among a field of nine entered in Tuesday's $75,000 Auld Lang Syne S. at Parx Racing. Winner of the Temperence Hill Invitational at Belmont and runner-up in the Greenwood Cup (G3) at Parx Racing, Ever Rider cuts back to one mile and 70 yards here after finishing fifth in the 1 1/4-mile Hawthorne Gold Cup (G2). An allowance winner at Belmont two back, Easter Gift exits a fifth in the Clark H. (G1) at Churchill Downs last month. The field also includes recent Swatara S. runner-up and third-placer Adirondack King (Lawyer Ron) and Yougotthagoinforu (Student Council), and the Grade 2-placed sophomore Classic Giacnroll (Giacomo). Later, Grade 3-placed Tenango (Lion Heart) and multiple allowance winner Bama Bound (Rock Hard Ten) will be among the favorites in the $75,000 Valley Forge S. over seven furlongs.
