What a race: Enable holds off a charging Sea of Class.

Please please please bring Enable to the BC!

Thanks guys for the links!

Sea of Class was soooooo close, but full credit to Enable, what a star. John Gosden sounds like he wants to come back for 2019, and Prince Khalid is a real sportsman, so here's hoping! But if she is retired, I can't blame them.

I really hope Sea of Class stays around for next year, I think I'm in love :D

The winner was by a grandson of Urban Sea, and the 2nd and 3rd were by a son of Urban Sea. Someone mentioned earlier this week that the Arc may have to be renamed the Prix Urban Sea.

Agonising for Sea Of Class, she will be some horse next year. But what can you say about Enable? She is only the eighth horse to win the Arc twice, the first non-French trained horse to achieve that feat, she is the first to win the Arc having only had one previous run that season, and Gosden has just revealed that she had a temperature between Kempton and now and was not at her best. I actually can't believe she won...

Sea of Class was soooo close! if she had gotten her running room earlier she would've caught her! By a nose. Less than a head it looked like to me.
But wow, what a filly, Enable to win it off a single start this year, second year in a row.

And Urban Sea dominates the first three placings :D
What a feather in the cap of Nathaniel.

Short neck is the official winning distance on RP. Considering Enable gave her 7lbs (age allowance), it'll be very interesting to see how the winner and second are rated.

Enable is truly magnificent. Sea of Class ran eyeballs out, but Enable winning off one race - just awesome!

I wonder if Godsden will enter Roaring Lion in the Classic now that Enable is probably headed to the Turf...of course it all depends on how Lion does next week.

IIRC, Frankel and Nathaniel were contemporaries. Nathaniel may not have beaten Frankel on the racecourse, but IMO he has become the better sire.
Great win by Enable, and we would be so lucky if her connections decide to come over for the BC. The thing is...Arc winners have not done that well in BC races. :(

This was my dream result. Was rooting for Enable, Sea Of Class and Talismanic.

Frankel is a significantly better stallion than Nathaniel. They actually have really close numbers in terms of foals and starters that's about it.

Nathaniel - 347 foals of racing age, 207 starters(60%), 99 winners(29%) 12 Stakes Winners(3%), $9,662,173 earnings - has one G1SW Enable
Frankel - 339 foals of racing age, 206 starters(61%), 132 winners(39%), 33 stakes winners(10%), $18,608,740 earnings - has 5 G1SWs, Call The Wind, Cracksman, Mozu Ascot, Soul Stirring, and Without Parole

That's a pretty bold thing to say, and unjustified in my opinion. Nathaniel has a standout champion yes, but he is trailing Frankel otherwise. Frankel has five G1 winners already, a Classic winner also, multiple Royal Ascot winners, and a far higher number of Group race winners and performers. Nathaniel can't claim anything like the same. I think they will both prove to be very good sires, both being by Galileo, but at the moment Frankel certainly has achieved more at stud.

Thanks for those informative rebuttals. Guess I'm just so enamored of Enable that she's made me forget all about Cracksman and the others. :P

Enable's dam has a yearling filly by Frankel, so we'll get to see how that cross works, too. :D

Yeah, I would say that Frankel is the better stallion.

The only horse to win the Turf (2015) and the Arc (2016) was Found, so it isn’t impossible, but it wasn’t in the same year. Found beat out 2015 Arc winner Golden Horn when she won the Turf, but GH wasn’t disgraced when he finished 2nd.

If Enable stays in training at all, I would be surprised if she comes over for the Breeder’s Cup.

I see it as a real possibility. Her owner Prince Abdullah and trainer John Gosden have shown that they aren't afraid to cross The Pond with their horses. And the timing is pretty good, giving her four weeks to refresh. :D

I know its said Arc winners don't do well in the BC Turf but I don't think their record is horrendous. Taking into account that only 12 have tried, 2 being Found, 7 of those have finished 4th or higher. 1 winner, 3 seconds, 1 third, 2 fourths. They have a 41.66% rate of hitting the top 3.

Then add to that the numerous horses who ran in the Arc but didn't win but then came over and won the BC Turf, its can easily happen. It just hasn't happened yet.

John Gosden had said he was considering the BC for Enable depending on how she ran and came out of the race.

Enable having a twitter account is news to me and I’m sitting here giggling reading them.

I wouldn't say Nathaniel or Frankel is 'the better stallion' at this point, but it is clear Frankel is outperforming Nathaniel at the moment. Nathaniel isn't even in the conversation at this point for Europe's top sires. I suppose to really get a good grip on which is the better stallion, one would also have to compare the pool of mares they've respectively been supported with. I suspect Frankel got better mares to begin with, so it would be very disappointing if he wasn't doing better than Nathaniel. Likewise with Nathaniel, is his performance exceeding the expectations of the mares who visited him, is it reflective of the mares he's seen, or is he underperforming relative to the mares he's seen?

I read that John Gosden siad Enable wasn't fully fit in the Arc and that now that she has ran, shes finally fully fit so we might yet see the best of her in the BC which is super exciting!

I also dearly hope Roaring Lion goes for the Classic

I am surprised that Enable is making the trip, but super excited that it's been confirmed.
