Where She Told Me to Go "savaged" Firenze Fire in the stretch!! FF won gamely.
I don't think he made contact but yeah he definitely tried to savage Firenze Fire, I let out a gasp you don't see that very often! Very game battle, but the more professional of the two prevailed 8-)

Collected had some time off at the farm, I believe. For whatever reason BB's Dubai horses were all off for a while. I think partly he got a poor ride, partly was floated very wide and then just spit the bit when he didn't get his way.

Yeah, WSTMTG tried to bite FF, but it looked like he had a fair amount of stuff around his nose, preventing him from really getting his mouth open enough to bare his teeth. Maybe he's done that before and now he gets to wear lots of "retainers?" :P

I was watching Belmont replays the other night and saw a horse try to savage a horse going by . The jock managed to jerk the head back straight beforehand though. It was a head on stretch shot.

If Monomoy Girl wins today and then goes on to take the Distaff, that would give her SIX G1 victories, IIRC.
She'd be in the conversation for HOTY, wouldn't she?

I was just telling my friend that there'd likely be a complaint from Mike Smith... MG drifted in front of MB who then angled out, but MG drifted back out again.
Will be interesting to see if she stays up since MB was so close to her at the finish...

As long as they are taking for this objection, Monomoy Girl is probably going to come down.

MB went from being cut off on the rail, having to go around and then getting carried about 10 paths out because MG wouldn't run straight. I think MB would have won and isn't that the point of objections?

Yep MB gets the win.

I believe that Midnight Bisou would have won if Monomoy Girl hadn't run like a moving road block. But was it illegal?
ETA: Well, guess the answer is yes. Congrats to MD and Mike Smith. Looks like Monomoy Girl isn't as dominant as some thought. ;) :P

I have no idea why the stewards took so long to make such an easy decision.

A jockey has to be in control of his mount, which Florent Geroux didn't.

I 100% agree with you Flanders, I told the same thing to my friend especially watching the replays I said I'd be surprised if MG doesn't come down, precisely because she cuts in so sharply in front of Midnight Bisou, who had to slow down, angle out, only to be pushed ridiculously wide as MG ran around like a drunken sailor (and who should be much more professional by now so one has to wonder if there was any intentional part here...) especially with the finish so close, it is almost certain Midnight Bisou would have gotten there in time without the interference.

Thrilled for Midnight Bisou, I've loved her since the Oaks trail... a little miffed that it had to be a win via DQ but
Sad that my hunch about saying Wonder Gadot should get the rest of the year off was correct. I know she came in 3rd but she was way behind the first two. (Predictably though the top 3 finishers in the Oaks were going to be the top 3 here too... just in a different order I suppose  )

Edit: conspiracy theorists might say Florent got brave about drifting after getting away with the Belmont ;)

happy for bisou - not sure how many times smith hit her down the stretch.... but I felt bad for her - it seemed like a lot. have a bit of a feeling she was shying from that smith left hand the closer they got to the wire. but clearly MG was coming out. and that caused the DQ. feel bad for MG too. she was sure trying - she never made contact with the other horse but she was all over the place down the lane.

Monomoy Girl looked like a green horse there.
Mike has done his share of “herding” but this looked more like the horse (MG) just came out, not jockey intent

Mike was on Bisou, Florent was on MG.
