First and foremost, there was the eight-month layoff hanging over Elate's head—a freshening that was necessary but lengthy nonetheless. Then there was the 10-furlong distance she was being asked to travel in her first outing since November, a route of ground that doesn't suffer those who lack class or fitness kindly.

She looked the class of the field in the paddock. Nice day at Delaware Park. One of my favorite tracks for a low key getaway from NJ for the afternoon

I was really impressed with the way she looked. As it stands it looks like the Distaff could be a better race than the Classic!
