I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

The Quarters guys just relayed some info that was from a CBS broadcast in San Diego: Some guy waiting for the Ice-Cube concert got a gun, started firing into the air. Got off three shots, was surrounded by sheriffs, who Tased him. He didn't stop (firing the gun? Wouldn't drop the gun? :? ), so he was shot and apparently killed.
Would you call that suicide by cop?
His poor family.

They have private security (think, crotchety retirees) doing sometimes rigorous, sometimes sporadic, bag searches. But no patdowns, in my experience.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

All the news reports I've seen have used words like 'deputies' or 'sheriffs,' not security guards.
I think that when Del Mar schedules a big concert, the track and/or local law enforcement arrange to have a significant police/sheriff presence.

Definitely scary and weird to hear the chaos live, if briefly. I'm going down tomorrow for closing day--hope all is good. I used to love it when Del Mar closed on Wednesday after Labor Day--a pleasantly exhausted day as everyone put the end to the season.

While watching the golf tournament with Tiger Woods and waiting for the races to start, is this not a logical Daily Double to start things off.

1. 4 Tiger Dad Carla Gaines Ass Espinoza 9/2
2. 8 Tiger Mom Bob Hess Evin Roman 3/1

If they have red silks double the bet!

Squeaky, thank you for that info. Good news that no one died.

Here's an example of what happens when you think it's better to be first than to be right. This was not accurate

It's not like that's a story from People Magazine, it's from Paulick, so I think it's fair to assume some horsey knowledge of the readers.

That said, some of the comments are mind boggling to say the least.

Refunds on the horse that bore out 15 seconds before the first shot?
Praying that DVD isn't injured because of some dumb rap concert?
And the list goes on and on....
