This is one of the most heartwarming race-related stories I have ever come across. Tough Sunday was a very large foal who had enormous difficulty being born, nearly died, had no nursing instinct, and was in the ICU for 30 days. His owner never gave up on him. Eventually the colt became a stakes winner at Santa Anita.

For pedigree fans, Tough Sunday is a tale male descendant of Alydar and is linebred to Alydar top and bottom. Maybe that's where this colt who refused to die got his toughness.

I love Alydar more than anything. Thank you for the wonderful story.

That picture with his caretaker is so sweet. He looks like a very loved and treasured friend.

Wonderful story - thanks for posting it here. I've been following him for a little while now - threw him into the VS because of that story. He's become a decent runner and fun to watch...

You're welcome, WarBiscuit. It's pretty amazing that Tough Sunday has become a useful racehorse. I especially like his Alydar linebreeding because we don't see Alydar too often in pedigrees anymore. Do you know if TS is an entire horse? If so, maybe he will get a shot at stud somewhere and pass on his Alydar legacy.
