Wearing a 3/4 shoe on that foot as of Mon morning. Lends truth to the bruised foot part, keeping pressure off that heel.....

He rolls the horse out for a photo op (his, not the horse's) the day after and people notice Justify is favoring his hind leg. Rather obviously. And they are not supposed to wonder and ask about it? Then they get a couple of different stories floated until we can settle on the second one. There is nothing unusual about any of this. I bet a few Derby horses are hurting this week, maybe worse than Justify.

All hell broke out here a few years ago when someone heard Chrome cough. Then just as quickly it vanished. As this probably will.

But it would seem Baffert has an issue to manage. It may be minor but they don't always stay minor. It's something he is experienced with but it is also in fact something to keep an eye on.

Pretty taken aback that this would make it into the Santa Anita notes. Calling people “misanthropes” for noticing something, which we know now was not unfounded, is beyond the pale.

Yeah, hauling out 'misanthropes' is a bit much, and maybe not the best use of that word.
However, the quotes from Baffert still make it sound like he's mixing up foot bruise with scratches, or scratches with foot bruise?
Bob, if you're trying to clear up the confusion, you're not helping. :P

Between the Justify ankle-gate 2018 and Zenyatta aborting her foal... Anyone else feel like they need a break from horse racing related websites for a little while? The speculation/general nuttiness hasn't been this high since... idk... Chrome went to Chile? Chrome went to Dubai? Chrome went to England? Chrome left the state of California?

But will I stop watching/reading all this? no.

This is why I'm here in this forum and stay away from FB related racing sites. On FB there are too many so called "experts" who have no clue and insanity. Right now they're probably screaming that Justify will break down and Zenyatta should never be bred again, because it's too depressing for her to lose foals.

There are some TB horse racing groups that have a lot of knowledgeable members - who take the time to explain to the ignorant. You'll always find the stupid who are quickly put in their place. I like FB. People take the time to say thank you for photos and extra info that is dug up. I've learned a lot. Choices - I guess.

Yes-getting his spunk and energy back. Foot appears to be healed and a non- issue at this point.

Great photo. Looks like that was taken while Justify was still stalking Promises Fulfilled. Could it have been on the backstretch with all those structures in the background?

I'll guess the finish line first time around, no?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Magnificent specimen - the width and depth of chest to contain a large heart and lungs and the wide open flaring nostrils - a built in turbo charger.

His stride length, muscle and size just dwarf the other horses. Magnificent indeed.

the muscle size thing isn't important to me, since all Baffert's horses usually have this very same "look".
