He just got done parading and is in the paddock, looks like he is ready to race again. Has to be confusing for Justify to see the other horses walking in the ring and it seeming like race day.

From earlier this morning. I really like this photo of Justify posing for the camera, and even the pony looking on as if with admiration.

An absolute beast!
Thanks to Bob Baffert and his team for making us feel very welcome at his barn this morning..

Loudest ovation so far tonight has gone to Mike Smith. Fans just absolutely love him. Here he is posing with his new trophy. #Justify #TripleCrown

I learned a couple of interesting things from the Baffert and Smith interviews on NBCSN.
When explaining how Justify is not a cuddly 'Lab' like AP, Bob said the big colt 'isn't mean,' but that he's bitten EVERYONE in the barn. Uh, OK..so I wonder what Bob considers to be 'mean?' :?
Mike is engaged to be married, and he thinks that's one of the reasons why he feels he's 'in such a good place' right now. Congrats, Mike. 8-)

Stallions (and sometimes gelding only makes it a little better. . ) are often extremely "mouthy", but it's not mean, it's just how they interact with the world. They're not coming at you with their ears pinned, they'll just grab you if you don't pay attention.

Is that somehow an insult to a horse that has just run 3 hard races in 5 weeks?
No, I was just curious as to what she (he?) saw that I didn't. That's all.

I know that horses use their mouths...and teeth...to communicate with other horses. So maybe Justify is just being 'social' with the humans around him, a studly version of a 'bro' in a bar slapping his buddy on the back or elbowing him in the side. Unfortunately, humans don't have horsehide-thick skin. :P

Using War Emblem as a comparison, Justify's a pussy cat. Baffert used to refer to WE as Hannibal Lector.

I agree he looks good galloping ( although I did not see any bucking or kicking in that video) and parading. In that particular photo that I was referring to his head was down and his eyes looked tired to me. Just my opinion on a particular moment in time. Perhaps not representative of his overall energy level. He deserves to have a tired moment or 2, but we know he recovers fast. Here’s hoping for a great second season for J.

Insurance?
Anybody know anything?

IF it's in the neighborhood of 6% of a reported value of $60MM, that's about $3,600,000 annual premium just to enter the Haskell, Travers and BC.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Well I mean Bob DID train War Emblem so maybe he’s thankful justify doesn’t have that personality

Safely back at Santa Anita this afternoon.....

Justify will resume training at Santa Anita this week for a summer campaign that may begin with the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 29, Baffert said. The Grade 1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 25 is another consideration.

“The Haskell is the first option, and the Travers,” Baffert said. “In a couple of weeks, we’ll breeze him back, and we’ll have an idea.

“We’ll sit down and figure it out. We’ll let the horse tell us.”

Justify has certainly held his weight during the Triple Crown season. Bob Baffert said Justify weighed 1,265 pounds when he got back to California. When he left for the Kentucky Derby, he tipped the scale at 1,268.

They are lovely photos...although I see that the groom has kept Justify on a very short hold, and that Bob is also standing very close, just in case. ;)

That looks like a memory that boy will treasure. Not many can say they got to pet an undefeated triple crown winner in person
