I’m curious if Hollywood Star has progressed, but it’s all about Catholic Boy.

Any reports on why Catholic Boy started his career with 3 turf races before the major success on dirt in the Remsen?
Ouchy feet? Laid back running style?

Just curious because TampaBay can be pretty souped on big days, might look for somebody who is a little more agressive on the front end??

Flameaway is another who has run well on both dirt and turf. I think he's from Scat Daddy's last (or next-to-last?) crop and for sentimental reasons, I'd love to see him progress to...and win...the Kentucky Derby. 8-)

From todays Blood Horse Daily

The decision behind the surface switch was brought on by the desire to keep the bay colt around two turns—and the lack of such
options on turf—as well as the fact he was still relatively fresh following his fourth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf
(G1T) Nov. 3.

The way Catholic Boy trained over the main track suggested to Thomas dirt wouldn't be an issue. When he backed that up with
his clear cut Remsen win, Thomas said that instead of feeling pangs over what might have been, had they had run in the Sentient
Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), he was grateful circumstances allowed them to experiment with grand results.

"Hindsight is always 20/20, and if he had run just a little bit better in the Breeders' Cup and won or finished second, we might have never put him on the dirt," Thomas said. "I'm a believer in one step at a time, and I'm happy to be in the spot that we are. So there really is little in the way of regrets with the way things have panned out."

A determined Flameaway holds off Catholic Boy to win.

Catholic Boy - say 6 Hail Marys, 6 Our Fathers, and make a good Act of Contrition.

The horse to watch coming out of this race and going forward is Vino Rosso.

Flameaway got a 92 Beyer for his win in the Sam Davis at @TampaBayDownsFL. I just watched the race for the first time. Other than it being an improved effort for the winner, I don't think we learned much. It's still early ( fortunately ).

I agree.
Nice pedigree for going longer too: By Curlin with Street Cry and Touch Gold on the bottom.
