I guess it depends on your particular martial art. For me, a roundhouse is a roundhouse kick. ;)

Sometimes, when I'm watching British racing, it feels like the stewards never cite a rider for causing interference.
Well, Frankie Dettori has apparently managed to get their attention.

The ban would cause him to miss rides on horses like Without Parole and Stradivarius. Ouch.

The New York stewards suspended jockey Pierre-Chares Boudot 15 days for "gross careless riding and extremely unprofessional riding" after the finish of the Grade 1, $1.2 million Belmont Derby on July 7 at Belmont.

Boudot rode Kingstar, who rinished fifth in the Belmont Derby, a half-length in front of Maraud, who finished sixth under John Velazquez.

Galloping out after the race, Boudot allowed Kingstar to come over several paths and make contact with Maraud and Velazquez, putting them into the rail. A review of the head-on replay shows Velazquez yelling at Boudot.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Just read this on Paulick R (which gives less detail than that DRF nugget). Is 15 days the normal suspension time something like this? I've seen way more egregious incidents happen during a race that resulted in no fine being handed out.

You can watch the head-on replay on the NYRA site ( the 10th race on 7/7 ) and clearly see what happens as well as an obvious exchange between riders....

I don't know why the suspension was this long, especially relative to other suspensions, but it is an odd incident.

Thanks, thinair. It looks more pronounced on the head-on vs pan shot (not surprising)...

So he’ll ride if the CHRB grants him a license? I think that program has been rerun more than I Love Lucy.

Riding first call for the Mick Ruis barn could make all the difference this time around!

135 23% 53% -0.85

Turf 61 8% 41% -1.48

23% winners from 135 mounts overall at the top end of the game is exceptional, congrats Mike Smith

But what's up with only 8% winners on the turf, strange, no?

Jockey Victor Espinoza was injured and the stakes-winning sprinter Bobby Abu Dhabi perished in a spill Sunday morning at Del Mar.

Espinoza was working Bobby Abu Dhabi when the horse dropped suddenly and without warning nearing the end of a drill, apparently from a sudden cardiac event.

Espinoza was placed on a backboard and had his neck immobilized by paramedics. He was transferred to a waiting ambulance and was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
