Mubtaahij, Hoppertunity Point to Dubai World Cup

https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/225540/mubtaahij-hoppertunity-point-to-dubai-world-cup

Following Mubtaahij's first work of 2018, Baffert said the 6-year-old son of Dubawi (IRE) owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum, along with stablemate Hoppertunity, are both pointing for the March 31 Dubai World Cup (G1) at Meydan. It's a race Baffert has won three times, including last year with Arrogate.

Sonneteer just won the Fifth Season Stakes at Oaklawn against a pretty nice field. Made his usual run from the back, with a really nice charge down the stretch to pass the field and win. I'm glad to see the handsome son of Midnight Lute get back to the winner's circle.

I'm also really pleased with this result. I'd been following him since his big second as a maiden in last year's Rebel, and I know he'd been frustrating his connections while they tried turf and different things with him since then.

I don't know where he'll go when the Oaklawn meet ends, but Desormeaux acknowledged the horse's affinity for the track so it seems likely he will come back next month for the Razorback.

FRANKINCENSE
4YO first timer from the Mandella barn gets Mike$mith for debut at a mile on the firm turf course in Santa Anita's opener.

At least 12 weekly drills leading up to today for the Frankel colt listed at 6/1 on the morning line.
If not today, one to keep an eye on for the patient barn.
