Nero reminded a bit of Arrogate (w/o the raw power/huge sweeping stride) in the way he runs on his forehand initially. It got better as he got more engaged/under himself over the course of the workout.

Justify looks like he could be any kind of horse, not very much data to go on, but that race and this workout.....WOW.

Justify is something to behold. Imo, no comparison between the two in that workout... physically, Justify is the bigger, stronger, longer striding of the two by far, and yet he's still very athletic for a horse of his size. If Justify stays healthy and gets two more starts before the Derby, in say the Rebel and Arkansas Derby, he may very well go off as the favorite on the first Saturday in May regardless of having no starts as a 2 yo.

Didn't Baffert announce that Justify is going to the Sunland Derby? IIRC, a win there nets 50 points. That would get him in the gate, but...a horse running for the Roses with not only no 2yo starts, but only two starts overall?
Is there time after the Sunland Derby for the colt to get in another prep race?
Oh man, if Justify were to win the Derby, he would blow up SO many 'rules' about how to win the race.

Rumor has it he will go to the Lexington at Keeneland after the Sunland Derby. . . April 14, and probably a paid workout. Hope he stays healthy, sound and thrives. Hope springs eternal!

Justify is something else. Wow. Beauty and power with speed to spare. I hope to God he holds together and stays sound. Bob just keeps getting these great prospects, year after year.

Nero was really running heads down. I'm still interested to see a Baffert colt named Once on Whiskey--ran on strong to be second to Curly's Rocket after falling way back early; bullet 5f since.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

The Tex Sutton flight scheduled to go from So Cal-to-Little Rock-to-Palm Beach-to New York on Wednesday has been postponed until Thursday due to inclement weather in New York.

And this has led Enticed and Free Drop Billy to be cross-entered here in the @TampaBayDownsFL Derby for Saturday in case they can’t make it out of Florida.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Solomini yesterday/Sunday - the lead change to right/into stretch was much better, but wonder why they shook him up like that at the start? Not letting horses pass him? But then running off with his head up. . . and then needs "strong encouragement" later. ...... next weekend in Rebel?

RIP, Mourinho.

Avery Island questionable for Kentucky Derby
Top Kentucky Derby prospect Avery Island has been sidelined and will be shipped to Lexington, Kentucky tomorrow (Tuesday) to be further evaluated by Dr. Larry Bramlage at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. He came back lame after working on Friday but initial x-rays ruled out any structural damage.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said: “It’s very disappointing for all of us here at Godolphin, and plans are on hold until we know more about the injury.

“He’s done something to himself. But we will wait until we hear from Dr. Bramlage before deciding the next move,” the trainer added.

Avery Island won his last start, the G3 Withers at Aqueduct, in convincing style to become one of the most popular prospects for the Kentucky Derby.

Looks like the connections of Greyvitos are pulling out all stops trying to get him to the Derby. 4th work in 17 days today?? Do I have that correct? Yeesh.

Either that, or they are on the fast track to retirement.

Greyvitos continues to progress on the comeback trail; up to six furlongs in his works. Went that distance in 1:15.60 this morning at @DelMarRacing. He has been off since suffering a knee chip when winning the Springboard Mile.

'Why not' is an easy question to answer if you understand the risks of training race horses.
