Gronkowski set to join Chad Brown after 'shock' departure from Jeremy Nosdea
Gronkowski has been transferred from Jeremy Noseda to the American barn of Chad Brown with the intention of running in the Belmont Stakes on June 9.

Owners Phoenix Thoroughbreds removed all the horses they had in training with the Newmarket handler, despite Gronkowski and Walk In The Sun registering several victories for the Shalfleet handler.

Jeremy Noseda admitted to being “shocked and surprised” the horse was taken from him on Tuesday.

"He is coming to Chad and I think he'll be there Monday morning," Tom Ludt, Vice President of equine operations for Phoenix Thoroughbreds said.

I can understand moving Gronkowski to Brown, since the colt is targeting American races, but it sounds like ALL the Phoenix horses were removed from Noseda. I suspect there is a story behind this....and it's probably not pretty. :(

McKinzie tack-walking in preparation for return
McKinzie, a two-time graded stakes winner, is nearing a return to racetrack training after being sidelined with a hock injury in late March.

Trainer Bob Baffert said on Thursday that McKinzie is tack-walking this week at his Santa Anita stable.

“He’ll be back,” Baffert said. “I wanted to make sure he was okay.”

Baffert said McKinzie had issues with a hock detected via a nuclear scan test conducted in late March. Nuclear scans are more precise than routine X-rays and can detect minor deficiencies.

“He was only off for a couple of days,” Baffert said.

Considered Baffert’s leading 3-year-old prospect last winter, McKinzie has won 3 of 4 starts and earned $350,000. He finished first in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on March 10, but was demoted to second for bumping runner-up Bolt d’Oro near the finish.

McKinzie had two workouts following the San Felipe before he was sidelined.

I didn't see this posted; more info about Audible.

Audible sent to Kentucky for a physical exam
Audible, the Grade 1 Florida Derby winner and third-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby, has been taken out of training and sent to a clinic in Kentucky for a complete physical, trainer Todd Pletcher said Monday.

Last Friday, Pletcher said Audible was not training to his satisfaction and he was removed from consideration for the Belmont Stakes. Audible shares common ownership with Justify, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner who will be aiming for a Triple Crown in the June 9 Belmont.

A published internet report last Friday indicated that Audible had a gluteal strain, but Audible did gallop at Belmont Park on Friday. He has only walked since then, Pletcher said.

Pletcher said Monday the strain was “part of” the reason Audible was taken out of training “but we don’t think that’s the whole equation,” he said. “He’s actually going to Kentucky for a complete physical. He’ll probably get a little freshening at WinStar; assuming nothing significant shows up then we’d still like to be in training for the Jim Dandy or Haskell.”

The Jim Dandy, at Saratoga, and Haskell, at Monmouth Park, are run on July 28 and 29, respectively.

KY Derby Future Wager: Wagering Suspended On Montauk After Colt Sidelined
Wagering on Montauk (#15), an 11 ¼-length debut winner at Belmont Park in October, has been suspended for the second of four pools of the 2018 Kentucky Derby Future Wager, which opens its three-day run on Friday at noon (all times Eastern).
Montauk, a 3-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by Robert V. LaPenta, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Twin Creeks Racing Stables LLC and Bridlewood Farm, had recently recorded two published workouts at Palm Beach Downs, including a half-mile breeze in :51 on Saturday. The connections met Friday morning and a decision was made to address a minor throat issue that would prevent Montauk from a chance to make the May 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (Grade I).
“The ownership group and Todd huddled up this morning and we decided that we are going to address a minor throat issue that will take him out of training for a few weeks,” said co-owner Aron Wellman, president and founder of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. “We were already on a tight enough schedule as it was and this will make him miss just enough time to not be ready for the Derby. However, by doing what's best for the horse, we do hope to have a very serious animal on our hands for the second half of the year.”

Beckford who won the listed William Walker S. at Churchill Downs on 4/28 and was pointing to the Royal Ascot meet, fractured his leg in a recent workout. Surgery was performed on Monday with hopes that he can return to racing next year.

Poor Montauk euthanized after fracturing shoulder in morning work at Belmont. Very sad, he had so much potential.

Dammit.
A fractured shoulder seems like a big injury to have happen just during a workout. Did he fall? :(
