If there's a youtube video clip from Kelle Ripa's ABC morning show with Ryan Seacrest, you've just got to see her explaining Justify breaking the Apollo curse.

I have no words.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Okay here it is.
I understand it's not a big deal, but....
The Derby talk starts at about the 10 minute mark and only lasts a couple of minutes as Kelly reads from a press release!

Nobody was Arrested Inside Churchill Downs in 2018
Although rain may have put a damper on some people's experience at Churchill Downs during the 2018 Kentucky Derby, the Louisville Metro Police Department was certainly happy fans were under control.

Of the over 180,000 people at the race track, not a single person was arrested, according to police.

"It's not surprising, it was pouring down rain," LMPD spokesman Lamont Washington told the Courier Journal. "People know how to act when it's a fun-loving event."

The Derby often leads to out of control visitors, leading to plenty of arrests in Churchill Downs. Last year, eight people were arrested at the track for events related to theft or pick-pocketing.

Saturday's rain (it was the wettest race day ever recorded) led to a calmer environment inside the stadium, although fans were still jeering over Justify's win as the favorite.

Equibase corrects 2018 Kentucky Derby chart
Equibase has issued a revised chart of the Kentucky Derby to amend the finish-line margins posted by several horses in the field, including a 10-length change to the margin between Solomini, who finished 10th in the race, and the 11th-place horse, Firenze Fire.

The revised chart was posted on Tuesday morning, a day after speed figure makers had raised concerns about several of the margins in the chart that had been released on Saturday night, approximately two and a half hours after the Derby had been run. The speed figure makers included Craig Milkowski, an employee of TimeformUS, which is owned by Daily Racing Form.

Solomini had initially been listed as finishing 2 ½ lengths ahead of Firenze Fire. The revised chart now lists the margin as 12 ½ lengths. In addition, the margin between the 12th-place finisher, Bolt d’Oro, and the 13th-place finisher, Flameaway, has been changed from a head to 6 ¼ lengths, while the margin between Flameaway and Enticed has been changed from a head to 4 ¼ lengths.

While none of the changes impacted horses who finished in the money for betting purposes, the changes will affect the speed figures earned by all of the horses who finished behind Solomini, in some cases in very significant ways. Taken together, the three changes add up to a 20-length difference in the total beaten margin of the horses finishing worse than 14th.

Steve Peery, Equibase’s Eastern Field Supervisor who was part of the chart-calling team at Churchill, said that he mistakenly entered the wrong margins for the three horses, and he apologized profusely for the errors in the original chart.

I saw the chart was fixed after discrepancies were brought up on another forum.

I see Justify rated, my apologies, I was wrong. It was astounding the he won after sitting so close to those fractions, you would have expected the closers to make a move.

I suspect most of the closers, or anyone in the back 3/4s of the field, were running through a mud flow. :P
It would have been interesting to get a weight on all the horses before the race...and then weigh them afterwards to see how many pounds of mud and water they ended up carrying. :(
