I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Very happy with personal favorite Affirmed being recognized in 6th place, if they just had a way of measuring heart on the racetrack he might've won!

A little surprised that Zenyatta was the #1 female coming in 11th overall.

And a little surprised to find some Hall of Fame folks quite a ways down the list.

That did surprised me as well

At least my gal was 26th- although I would have placed her higher :D

Glad to see Red and Slew 1 and 2, pretty much how I have it in my mind. I would have The Bid and The Doctor in a tie for 3rd.

I would have switched AP over Affirmed

6 out of 7 of the top mares I’ve ever seen—I’m older than the list—didn’t even make it. For me the best mare I’ve seen is Susan’s Girl. The other omissions are Bayakoa, Lady’s Secret, Paseana, Azeri and Desert Vixen with only Beholder making the list. Zenyatta being ranked so high doesn’t surprise me—I don’t agree with her placement but it doesn’t surprise me. Five years ago, she would have cracked the top five, perhaps even three. For males, Cougar II is an omission in my opinion. The top 6 is one salty group. Affirmed did himself no favors by liking to wait on horses. There were two Affirmeds—the one ridden by Cauthen and the one ridden by Pincay. The latter got more out of Affirmed, in my opinion. He’s an all time great with anyone on him.

I'm amazed Zenyatta is ranked #11 and the highest ranked female to boot. Nuff said. . .

I wonder who the two voters were who thought Cigar was better than Secretariat or Slew. Or Forego, for that matter. Maybe the same two who ranked Braulio Baeza and John Velazquez higher than Shoe?
