A couple of questions,..

A couple of questions,..

First of all Equibase numbers...Does anyone put much stock in them? our filly won last time out, Equibase gave her an 85, while her Beyer was 66,..

Secondly, who, in your opinion is more accurate? Beyer? Ragozin? Thoro graph?...

A lot depends on your level of expertise in reading the numbers from any of the publications you've mentioned. If your filly only has one race it can be quite difficult to determine where she fits next out, thus investment you want to protect and knowing the condition book increase in importance. If she has a series of races then you need to consider the trend, the bounce, the top etc. while trying to predict the next number for her.

While anybody connected with Ragozin will tell you why they're the best (and most expensive) it's really more about your ability to read the sheets, just knowing she ran a 15 last out is only a basic part of the formula.

The one thing that is certain, don't ever compare one product with another, the 85 at Equibase vs. the 66 from Beyer means absolutely nothing. Comparing horse to horse within the boundary of the same product, whichever you choose, will probably answer most of your questions.

Why do you ask?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

No particular reason, she's running for the starter/OC level with no tag, in just talking with people around the track, some swear by beyers, while I've talked to a couple of jockey agents who use thorograph...
