Edgar Prado having a fine meet at Laurel

At age 50, Edgar Prado is having a great meet at Laurel. Even though he has only had 77 rides since the meet opened September 8, his win/place/show percentage is 47% (#3 of jockeys there) and he is bringing home the winner 23% of the time (#1 of jockeys there).

Edgar is a class act, and I am happy that he is doing so well, but I am truly puzzled that he doesn't get more rides. Is it his choice, or is he seen as a has been?

Hard to say, part of it could be the fact that on any weekend, Edgar could be out of town riding for bigger clients, plus while Edgar was away, trainers forged relationships with jockeys & agents, and maybe don't want to jeopardize them riding someone who might not be here in a couple of months (Edgar is wintering in FL) bear in mind that the Md circuit is much tougher than it used to be, and many good riders (Karamanos, Toledo, Steve Hamilton, etc) are available
