more like Dess-tai-(n) with a silent n, like the word for bread "pain" (for those who may not know)

LOL I guess that's what happens when you learn French from primarily English-speakers. We were taught "pan" for bread.

the results this year have been super disappointing. what a lousy year so far, considering who's been running.
Follow your heart. You need it. And where did it learn to scurry like that?

To be fair the specific sound doesn't really exist in english so it's hard to explain, especially in writing :D It's a bit like an "eh?" sound but it's a little further back in the mouth (and a bit higher to the pallet).

I'm convinced that successful betting strategy is to think vertical rather horizontal.
Be happy with one win at a time, especially if you can hit the exotics.
The thought of picking 3 or 4 winners in a row seems downright impo$$ible.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Isn't it sort of like trying to make an "N" sound, but without using your tongue against the back of your teeth? :P

That could be a viable alternative, it's pretty close. Though the nuance is that with an N you push the air closer to your tongue/teeth... where that sound would be maybe like saying the word "man" but running out of breath before you can complete the "n" sound.

Also I've got a complaint to add: a lot of fan favourites who are being retired aren't getting to go out on a win. I wonder if it'll affect fireworks at the sales.

Del Mar turf course is a joke. May as well put their names in a hat and pick the winner/2nd/3rd that way.
