Nice to see you looking so well, Bal. He does look like a character. How fun! I'll have to remember that about bringing donuts to the backside in the morning, lol.

That shot with all four feet off the ground is very cool. And it's nice to see him with his ears forward. He's much more attractive when he's not looking so cranky.

I stand corrected. Sorry, GR. ;)
I'm glad you got to spend time with him, Bal.

My favorite Gun Runner moment - I was able to attend The Whitney Stakes this year and was seated not far from Asmussen and his boys in the clubhouse. That whole section just erupted with applause and cheers when Gun Runner won it. Anyone who could was slapping Steve A. on the back and congratulating him. It was neat to see.

The coffee mug picture is funny! Do you ever grab breakfast from the truck that circles the backstretch at Oklahoma? Maybe it's not there any more, but they had The Best bacon sandwiches!
Thanks for sharing the rest of the pics. Love Gun Runner.

Love those pictures, thanks for sharing them. The one where he has Bill's shirt and the one afterwards where he is told to behave are awesome. The look on his (Gun Runners) face  He seems like quite a funny character to be around.

Also - I have to say this: it's great to see you and Bill being so well and having a blast. I'm very happy for you both! :D

I can't say we had the best summer in Saratoga this year. We didn't have the AC on once, but the furnace sure gobbled up a lot of propane - just a lot damp, chilly, rainy days and SOL luck betting. There was, however, some decent weather some race days. BUT, the trip was all worth it getting up close to Gun Runner. What a thrill. He's very special. And Old Bones recalling the crowd cheering for Steve when Gunner won the Whitney, the entire occupants of the Club House and Grandstand were on their feet when he crossed the finish line and walked back to the barn after the Woodward.

With regular jockey Florent Geroux aboard, the 4-year-old son of Candy Ride worked in company with Gettysburg and completed the move in a final time of 1:00 2/5, the second fastest of 41 at the distance Monday. Gettysburg was credited with 1:01. Gun Runner galloped out to six furlongs in 1:12 4/5.

Gun Runner Pointing to Pegasus After Breeders' Cup
Owners Winchell Thoroughbreds and Three Chimneys Farm announced Oct. 18 that Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) contender Gun Runner will point to the $16 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) Jan. 27 at Gulfstream Park after his trip to Del Mar.

In the announcement, the ownership group also said plans for Gun Runner's stud career "will be determined following the Breeders' Cup."

Other than a second-place finish behind Arrogate in the March 25 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline (G1), Gun Runner's 2017 campaign has been unblemished.

He wanted to go. I don't see where that track surface is deep.

Gun Runner earned 27 of 31 first-place votes this week, with four going to Arrogate. It’s fair to say most ballots were cast before both worked out at Santa Anita, earning high marks Monday morning.

"Gun Runner has never won at the distance over which he’ll be tested in the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Classic, but trainer Steve Asmussen has no concerns his stable star can get every bit of 1 1/4 miles."

Love this boy. Just watch his run in the Woodward and tell me he can't get 10 furlongs and win. He wasn't even breathing hard coming out of that race. He just gets better and betterer - plus he's adorable.

He came pretty darn close in the Dubai World Cup too, Arrogate was just still in monster form at that point, it really wasn't because Gun Runner couldn't get the distance, imho.
