Really love to see Irap put in a big one here, but man, a sleeper Pletcher at 12-1 with Johnny V making the trip sure does look enticing.

Will this race be streamed for free live anywhere? Thanks

I expect Javi to come out running and take control of the race early on Timeline. Gets him home in front for retribution of his not so stellar ride in the Haskell.

He just has to break, but I don't anticipate getting the ML 5-1

Would love to see that happen, of course. Timeline has definitely run a lot faster in the past than he ran in the Haskell and he had a strange start in that race, too...slow out of the gate and then rushed up to the front. Didn't look good even to my untrained eye.

I'd like to see Irish War Cry bounce back in this race.

Dominant win by West Coast, but the other major story is that Irap was apparently injured at the end of the race and has been taken off the track in the horse ambulance.

my mum was there at the track, said irap went into the van with no apparent soundness issues. calm, not limping, etc. she wondered if it was heat, unless the injury won't show up until he's scanned?

Ugh:

Jim Dunleavy‏ @DRFDunleavy

Irap fractured left front sesamoid. Stabilized, vanned back to barn. "Very serious injury," per Celeste Kuntz, on-call vet for the AAEP.

Will have surgery Monday to fuse joint . Stable and resting comfortably in stall now. Prognosis is good as per O'Niell. ( I would think more like guarded due to risk of laminitis).

From the Paulick article:
Caton Bredar posted on Twitter that the colt has been fitted with a Kinzie splint and that he would be vanned to the New Bolton Center on Sunday morning.

Super bummed to get the tweet about his injury on my way home from trail riding today. Irap was one of my favorite horses in training. I hope he has an uncomplicated recovery.

In the meantime, Pavel will have to continue to step up.

Ugh one of my favorite 3yos in training. Hope he pulls through, poor boy.

Really sad to hear that Irap was injured in the race. I know reports say that he was injured near the finish line, but given the way he shifted in turning for home I wonder if something went wrong a bit earlier. Hope he pulls through just fine; he's a very honest and cool horse.

Meanwhile, the PA Derby continues to frustrate... West Coast made another great trip for himself when the duel between IWC and Timeline failed to materialize (they should just part ways and take turns winning minor stakes as the lone speed), and he certainly looked strong in the stretch, but how do we just just how that effort was? Why can't we see him face elders before the Classic? I'll take no issue with his eventual crowning as 3yo champion, but this race really shouldn't be a G1.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

There was another casualty from the racing at Parx. Coal Front's win in the Gallant Bob was quite gallant; he came out of it with a condylar fracture. :(

From Doug O'Neill's FB page earlier today:

Thank you everyone for your kind notes and prayers for Irap. He loaded up like a champ this morning for his trip to New Bolton and surgery tomorrow. He has a great mind, and is being a good patient. We will update you again tomorrow.

Irap Has Successful Surgery

“Dr. Dean Richardson and Dr. [Chris] Ryan said that Irap was/is a 10 out [of] 10 in terms of a patient,” O’Neill relayed. “They were both very happy with how the 3-hour surgery went. His coming out of anesthesia [in a pool of water] went ‘flawless,’ according to both vets. Once out of the pool, he calmly walked right back to his stall. He’s such a classy colt."
