Dry Martini was apparently euthanized in 2013 after coming down suddenly with illness. Sad, I hadn't heard that before today.

Oh no, I hadn't heard that. Such a cool horse, very sad. That must have been devastating for his people.

He's not a US thoroughbred, but here is a lovely article about Melbourne Cup winner Delta Blues (JPN) and his post-racing career at Northern Farm as a showjumper.

(Forgettable is my favorite, though, and fortunately @nabecci puts up lots of pics of the Northern Farm ex-racers  )

ETA: there is also a link at the bottom of that story to another about 2012 Ascot Gold Cup winner Colour Vision and his post-retirement career as well 8-)

Good article. I especially like the part about how they give them jobs after their racing careers which benefits Northern Farm as well as the horses. Kudos to the Yoshida family! Thanks for posting.
“They are here for people to see them, but mainly they are used to train the riding staff for Northern Farm,” said Yonemoto. “The young staff get trained by the horses, who are very good teachers. My father was a successful university rider when he was younger, and he still enjoys it. It was his idea that the good racehorses train people the best.”

Nobody's mentioned Best Pal? Didn't he become a training partner/trainer's horse?
