Official chart reads 32 1/2.

Two Horses Collide On Saratoga Main Track Wednesday Morning
Two horses collided on the Saratoga Race Course main track this morning. Gold Shield was ambulanced off the track and after examination is reported to be comfortable in his stall. The other horse was unscathed.

Gold Shield, purchased for $1,000,000 at Keeneland, is trained by Claude “Shug” McGaughey and runs for owners Lane’s End Racing and Kinsman Stables. By Medaglia d’Oro, out of the good racemare and producer Dream Supreme, the five year-old horse has earned $179,405 to date. He is a half-brother to Hopeful Stakes (G1) winner and sire Majestic Warrior.

Gold Shield’s last start was opening day of the 2017 Saratoga Race Meet. He was fourth in an allowance optional claiming race.

Flurry of horse deaths at Saratoga raises concerns
SARATOGA SPRINGS — A jump in the equine fatality rate in the early going of the Saratoga race meet is bringing the issue of horse safety into the spotlight once again this year.

Two horses — Angels Seven and Brooklyn Major — were fatally injured while racing, and the other five deaths occurred during workout hours, beginning with the Chad Brown-trained Lakalas on May 28 at the Oklahoma training track, where the New York Racing Association conducts training from April through early November.

Each year since 2009, anywhere from nine to 16 horses have died on Saratoga grounds.

There may be another fatality to add to that total. The mare Fall Colors fell heavily at the 2nd fence today in the first race, a stakes over fences, and she was still down on the track when the field was forced to bypass that fence on the last lap. Did not look good. :(

Equibase chart says the fall -- or the aftermath, as several other horses struck her -- was fatal. In the 9th, Munjaz "went wrong" and was vanned off. David Grening is reporting on Twitter that he was euthanized, hind leg injury.

Fatalities plague Spa meet
There have been eight fatalities at Saratoga since July 28, four that occurred during a race and four during training. There were two fatalities at Saratoga before the meet began, one of those due to cardiovascular collapse. One of the racing fatalities, Brooklyn Major on July 31, was also the result of a cardiovascular collapse.

With Anticipation is still living on his owners' farm in Pennsylvania with several other retirees. All of the Jonathan Sheppard/George Strawbridge horses go back to that farm after their racing days if nobody else has lined up to take them.
