FYI the @reviewjournal has laid me off ending their horse racing coverage. I was there 20 yrs w Jay Richards n Pat Rogerson before me
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

This makes me sick. I always enjoyed reading the results, etc. I think the San Gabriel Valley Tribune still posts those things but the poor Tribune is not the paper I used to read so many years ago...so I don't subscribe. I wish the Times would bring this back.
Give me that short lead, give me that win by a nose, get them all home safely!

Maybe there's hope.

Ross Levinsohn named new publisher and CEO of Los Angeles Times as top editors ousted
...Dearborn said the company plans to invest more heavily in news in Washington, improve its culture report and its coverage of sports. Dearborn would like The Times to be a more authoritative voice reaching Asia and South America.

“Ross isn’t coming in to manage further downsizing,” Dearborn said. “We have more to offer.”

As devoted "real paper paper" reader, I'm glad.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Paulick Report has Bob Ike's tweet up:
Good news. Entries and results to return to @latimessports starting on opening day @losalracing on Sept. 7, due in large part to @jcherwa.

I am not surprised that John Cherwa has worked for this; his articles on racing have been some of the few racing-related bright spots in the LA Times during this "drought." He is also responsive to feedback from racing fans, and has personally answered emails that I've sent him about his articles.
