A cool colt with an abundance of awesomeness
Allow me to introduce you to the coolest horse in racing.

His name - Mind Your Biscuits - is awesome, and is inspired by American country singer Kacey Musgraves' song 'Biscuits'. In the song, Musgraves sings ‘Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy’.

Mind Your Biscuits is a colt by Posse out of Jazzmane - so, what’s the correlation?

Trainer Chad Summers, a former bloodstock agent, who only took out his trainer’s licence in February, was on the phone to his brother, trying to come up with a name for the horse, when the song came on. The brothers laughed and thought it was a good name for a horse.

He ran very well, considering his trip caused by his post position. According the trainer he will either target the Met Mile or get a freshening.

Once in awhile Posse is the sire of a very good G1 horse. Not often, but it happens.

Caleb's Posse, Kodiak Kowboy and now Mind Your Biscuits.

Here's an article about Posse. Seems he shuttled to Uruguay last year and didn't return to the US for the 2017 season due to a disagreement between his owners.

Posse sires fast horses. Period. Under-rated sprint sire.

If Posse never returns to the US (and it sounds like he won't :( ), Mind Your Biscuits is a fine son to carry on his speedy bloodline.

I watched the TVG version of this race live and later the NBCSN version, in the early stages of their coverage of the big race. It was amazing how much they varied. TVG pre race was all about the Mind Your Biscuits angle and particularly the opportunity for the young trainer's first win, while NBCSN focused on another horse and didn't pick up the Mind Your Biscuits angle until after the result.

It demonstrated how the coverage can really shape perspective and rooting angle. Since I watched TVG first I rooted for Mind Your Biscuits all the way around and kept my eye on him. If I had inherited the NBCSN version initially I wouldn't have given a flip about Mind Your Biscuits.

Also, after watching that young trainer I appreciate that I've maintained my hair fully at the crown.

'Biscuits is the 2nd top sprinter Shadai has bought, following the purchase of Drefong last fall. Maybe they're trying to put some speed back into their racehorses, who are best known as stayers. The old 'Speed over Stamina' formula. ;)
