FL is where we get our horses from at the rescue now that Suffolk is basically dead. It supports a lot of people -- most horsemen racing there are only racing there, and their livelihood hinges on state bred races and breeding. It breaks my heart, because it's not like there are billions to be made there, and every trainer I've talked to seemed to be in it because they didn't want to be doing anything else. It's a passion and a letdown.
Watching with interest, I guess. Most horses who race at FL are just wintering at the farm. They don't go anywhere else. What happens to the animals if FL shutters and trainees don't relocate? Oy...
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch? Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!
