Trainer Kirby appeals one-year suspension

Veteran trainer Frank Kirby was handed a one-year suspension after one of his runners tested positive for methamphetamine, but Kirby claims the contamination was environmental and has appealed the ruling.

The Illinois Racing Board suspended Kirby for all of 2017 after All My Secrets, the second-place finisher in the first race Nov. 4 at Hawthorne, returned a positive test for methamphetamine.

If they insist on keeping these statistics then they should have another category for jockeys who ride without the benefit of artificially inflated slot infused purses.

Or do something like any other business that "adjusts for inflation" when comparing monetary rankings, otherwise its meaningless imho.

Castellano could indeed be #1 without mentioning the money factor and that would be fine.

It's like a horse coming here from Japan and using their "earnings won per start" as a class handicapping factor, lol.

‘Blessed’ To Be Back: Jockey Medina Returns To Winner’s Circle For First Time Since 2014

Doctors told jockey Jean Claude Medina he should find another occupation after he broke his elbow and punctured a lung when his mount clipped heels in a race at Tampa Bay Downs in April of 2015 and threw him to the turf.

But riding horses means too much to the native of Chosica, Peru to turn his back on a sport that has taught him to persevere in the face of extreme hardships.

It's news, not anything to do with handicapping. When you see the DRF include money won next to the jockey named on a horse in PPs instead of their wins and winning percentage for the meet/year, you'll have something to complain about.
