I never saw Bronze Age cross the wire. The way he was stopping, I was expecting...and hoping...that Martin would pull him up. :(

It feels like Calumet has had at least one in every Derby prep in 2017, and with trainers besides D. Wayne. Nice to see them get a win with a homebred, considering the enthusiasm and support Brad Kelley seems to have for the sport.

I think it was Bronze Age who stumbled badly out of the gate - poor guy - hope he is ok.

McCraken credited with 6F in 1:13 2/5. Wilkes: "I wanted to put a bottom in him."

Has the definition of "bottom" changed over the years for a horse wanting to stretch to a 1 1/4?
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

True Timber is possible for the Wood.
Term of Art is likely for the Santa Anita Derby.
Patch is running in the Louisiana Derby this weekend.
Sonneteer is possible for either Santa Anita or the Arkansas Derby. He did well at Oaklawn Park last time.
Wild Shot will turn up somewhere, maybe Florida or the Bluegrass.

All of them will need a top two finish to qualify, Sonneteer probably needs just a third or better.

And that's not accounting for the inevitable D Wayne Lukas 'Hail Mary' (Silver Bullion, Horse Fly or Dilettante) on Arkansas Derby Day.

Blue Grass gains Practical Joke, loses Classic Empire
The Grade 2, $1 million Blue Grass Stakes on April 8 at Keeneland lost one significant player but picked up another on Tuesday as the connections of Classic Empire and Practical Joke finalized plans.

If Classic Empire isn't running in the Blue Grass, where is he going to prep? :?
There are a lot of pieces changing position on the Derby Prep chessboard.

@DRFGrening:
Classic Empire headed to Oaklawn Park for Arkansas Derby April 15, per Casse.

I firmly believe he's the most talented 3 year old, but his setbacks and loss of important preps is hard to look past when looking at his chances in the Derby. Hey, maybe we'll be blessed with another very special 3 year old...
