Bird Song just took the G3 Fred Hooper at Gulfstream, pretty much on the front all the way.
The Mary Lou Whitney-owned son of Unbridled's Song continues what seems to be a standout year for the late UBS. Arrogate, Battalion Runner, Bird Song...and I know I'm forgetting some horses. He also is the broodmare sire of stakes winners Tourist and Unique Bella.
They're putting quite an exclamation mark on the career of a great stallion.

I hope he goes to the Met Mile...

Masochistic returns to the races in the Triple Bend.

I also noticed that Kobe's Back, who has been off for a while, is one of the probables for this race.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Stanford won the 1 1/16-mile Challenger Stakes at Tampa for fun, and I think I heard the track announcer say that he set a race and track record.
Wonder if Pletcher and Co. are now wishing they'd sent him out to SoCal for the Big Cap. :D

Whitmore has found his bread and butter in sprint races. He ate a good field for lunch in the Hot Springs S at Oaklawn in a quick 1:08.72
Looking forward to his next race.

Midnight Storm, who couldn’t quite hold off Shaman Ghost going 1 1/4 miles when finishing second last Saturday in the Santa Anita Handicap, will look toward the Met Mile on Belmont Stakes Day at Belmont Park as the next opportunity to get a Grade 1 victory on dirt, trainer Phil D’Amato said Thursday.

Mohaymen is targeting the Westchester for his return; perhaps these two will meet in the Met Mile.

That was very nice. That pace toasted everyone else but he had a second wind in the stretch. I was never convinced by him, but I'm interested to see what he has in store for this year.

He could have a useful career--sort of Hoppertunity-ish, but with a little more pop.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Mor Spirit was a horse I liked for the Derby last year, so it's nice to see him developing into a good handicap horse. I like the way he runs with his head low, a very unique "style". Have they said where to next?

They haven't said, but one would have to think the Oaklawn Handicap would be on their radar.

Multiple GSW Kid Cruz bowed a tendon in the 2nd at Aqueduct today and has been retired. He will be gelded and sent to his breeder, Machmer Hall in KY, and eventually retrained for a 2nd career.

I wish I could ride without my body screaming at me. I'd adopt him as a lawn ornamant and take him for long walks.

Go Giants.

Happy retirement to Kid Cruz. I always liked him, glad to hear they'll take care of him. He deserves it!

So what's the latest on Drefong? Has he gone into the Baffert MIA vortex, or is he back in training yet?
