I am a huge fan of Shaman Ghost, but I'd think the Met Mile was too short and (possibly) too quick for him. He is best at a mile and a quarter, why mess with that?

He's won at the distance before. He's a very versatile horse and part of why I'm a fan is his capacity to win at any distance between 7 and 12f. May not be his strongest distance, you're right, but it's an attractive berth to have as a stallion.

Whitmore has really found his niche sprinting!

Lord Simba followed up his 8-length maiden win with a victory in the Los Angeles (gr. III). I think Baffert's found his next big sprinter.

I suspect he'd rather find Drefong.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

True. I guess I meant, rather, that Lord Simba may be the heir to the Defrong empire. ;)

Da Big Hoss sidelined with ankle injury until at least autumn
Next Saturday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Elkorn Stakes at Keeneland will be absent last year’s winner, Da Big Hoss, who came out of a work earlier this month with an ankle injury that will keep him out of action until at least this fall.

“He is going to need two months of rest,” trainer Mike Maker said Saturday from his base at the Churchill Downs Trackside facility.

Da Big Hoss, sharply claimed for $50,000 in June 2015, won five stakes in seven starts last year, four of which were graded, and made more than $968,000. He hasn’t started since an 11th-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 5.

I hope he can return in top form. I admire this gorgeous son of Lemon Drop Kid; we don't have that many intact horses running successfully at longer distances.

Does Tale of Verve have a new career? I still have him in a Virtual Stable and saw he has recent published workouts at Tapeta Farm, but I wasn't expecting this.
