Stablemates Collected, Cupid Square Off in Californian
Collected and Cupid, a pair of Bob Baffert-trained runners who did their fair share of damage during their 3-year-old campaigns, will face each other and a unique field in the $200,000 Californian Stakes (G2) April 22 at Santa Anita Park.
Speedway Stable's Collected started his 4-year-old season in style April 1, when he bested former stablemate Dortmund to win the Santana Mile by 3 3/4 lengths at Santa Anita. In 2016, the son of City Zip won the Sham Stakes (G3), Sunland Park Festival of Racing Stakes, and Lexington Stakes (G3) before he ran 10th in the Preakness Stakes (G1).

Good to see Cupid return to the races. The Tapit colt showed some brilliance last year, along with some lackluster performances. It would be nice if he's matured into a consistently-brilliant older horse. ;)

Mr Hot Stuff, what a looker. I had a crush on that one for sure. He still looks fantastic!

Mr. Hot Stuff finished a solid 3rd in the Temple Gwathmey. He'll most likely run in the G1 Iroquois at Percy Warner (Nashville, TN) next month, a race he lost by a neck in 2015. It'll be a very tough test this year since Cheltenham Stayers' Hurdle winner Nichols Canyon is also pointed towards the race.

Imperative just won the Charles Town Classic...again. :D The seven-year-old ridgling won in 2014 and was second last year. He sure likes that bullring.

TVG's on-track folks just announced that Cupid is a late scratch from the Californian. The colt was getting a bath before saddling...and he kicked the wash rack and wound up with a superficial cut on his hock.
Not serious, but enough to to earn him the day off.
Colts.

Easy win for Collected. He and Vale Dori are taking advantage of the absence of the big guns!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

No worries -- I was just worried that all this time I had been including him in the Gelding Thread when he was in fact, entire. Has happened before. ;)

He was a crypt and was gelded as a three year old in an effort to figure out why he wasn't running to his potential.
